    We sincerely hope you will consider being a part of Information Technology Services successT hese positions will have a start date of June 10, 2024.Information Technology Services (ITS), currently has multiple openings for Information Security Engineer Level III positions in ourChinden office in Boise. These positions provide critical, frontline, hands-on management oversight of the Cybersecurity Operations team.
    The selected individuals must possess an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of Cybersecurity technologies, policy, and analysis skills.

    The candidates will be expected to fill a position in one of the three following rolls within ITS:
    Firewall operations on the ITS Firewall Team, SOC Analysis on the ITS Security Operations team or policy creation and enforcement on the ITS Governance, Risk and Compliance team

    Please note:

    The successful candidates will be required to pass a comprehensive fingerprint-based background check specific to the agencies ITS supports.

    Example of DutiesAssists in daily operations of the assigned team to ensure the highest levels of protections are maintained on a continual basis to protect, monitor, manage and prevent cybersecurity incidents, breaches, and exploitation of state information;Conducts team meetings and assignment of team tasks in the absence of the team manager;Provides technical team leadership as a subject matter expert in various cybersecurity functions;Identifies and ensures staff are adequately trained to carry out the responsibilities of their assigned functions;Provides budget input;Manages and oversees contracts and technology related software licensing, license renewals and related operating expenses;Develops, manages, and monitors process and procedures in accordance with the established governance frameworks;Provides direct customer interface for problem resolution and escalation;Oversees daily team functions which may include software deployments, infrastructure upgrades, hardware rollouts, troubleshooting, incident response, planning, documentation, policy and compliance reviews and other related operational functions;Develops management reports;Manages projects;Enforces and manages regulatory compliance as required;Oversees and manages breach investigations;Participates, manages, and oversees Cyber incident response.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Considerable knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.

    Typically gained by at least four years of professional work experience (within the last five years) performing network security OR two years of professional work experience (within the last five years) and successful completion of college/vocational courses covering network security practices.

    Internal tactics to anticipate and mitigate cybersecurity threat capabilities and actions.

    Typically gained by at least three years of professional work experience researching potential cyber security threats and reviewing, interpreting, and prioritizing information systems remediation OR successful completion of college courses in cyber security threat identification and mitigation and one year of practical work experience.

    Risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing, documenting, and mitigating risk).Typically gained by at least three years of IT experience examining, auditing, managing, implementing IT risk assessments, IT audit programs, and IT security programs.

    Good knowledge of cyber intelligence/information collection capabilities and conducting cyber incident investigations.
    Typically gained by at least three years of work experience as an advanced IT professional. Experience should include practical experience conducting cyber incident investigations.
    Assessing cyber security regulatory compliance and policy & procedure writing.

    Typically gained by at least one year of professional work experience developing training materials, reports, policy and/or procedure manuals, written interpretations of law, rules, or policies, or any related background which would be considered similar OR successful completion of two college/vocational courses in technical writing or communication.

    Supervisory practices.

    Typically gained by at least one year of professional work experience performing as a supervisor which required work assignment, direction and monitoring staff with responsibility (or significant input) in to the hiring of employees, preparing performance evaluations, and handling problem-solving procedures OR successful completion of at least 8 hours of courses or seminars specifically covering supervisory practices PLUS at least 6 months experience performing as a full supervisor OR successful completion of 6 college credit hours of courses or seminars covering the essential elements of management (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
