- Diagnose dental conditions and develop personalized treatment plans for patients, considering accessibility and affordability factors.
- Provide a range of dental treatments and procedures, including restorative, preventive, and surgical treatments, with consideration for the limited availability of specialized services in rural areas.
- Perform routine dental procedures such as dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealant applications, focusing on preventive care to address common rural oral health issues.
- Interpret X-rays, dental records, and other diagnostic tests, and communicate findings to patients in a clear and understandable manner.
- Educate patients about oral hygiene practices that are feasible and effective in a rural setting, emphasizing the importance of preventive care and regular check-ups.
- Collaborate with local healthcare providers and organizations to promote oral health awareness in the rural community and participate in community outreach programs.
- Monitor and evaluate patients' progress before, during, and after treatment, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary and considering the limited access to immediate follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, utilizing both electronic and manual record-keeping systems as necessary, considering potential limitations in technology infrastructure.
- Adhere to infection control and sterilization protocols, ensuring a safe and sanitary dental environment, especially when dealing with limited resources and remote locations.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in dentistry and relevant rural oral health practices through continuing education and professional development activities.
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Valid state dental license
- Proficient in performing a wide range of dental procedures, with a focus on providing accessible and affordable care.
- Strong knowledge of oral health conditions and treatment options, adaptable to the specific needs and limitations of a rural population.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients from diverse backgrounds and educate them about oral health in a rural context.
