At our core, we exist to serve people experiencing homelessness-physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We share the Good News of Jesus with them as they move toward independence, stability, and healthy relationships.

Summary / Purpose of Position:

The primary purpose of this position is to come alongside those who have moved to the post-program phase of their recovery, living in MHM Transitional Housing, and employed. The Transition Counselor will promote the sharing of the gospel, growth in gospel-based independence, and movement toward healthy relationships and stability. They will counsel guests as they move forward into a more vulnerable phase of their recovery, will provide Biblical counsel, accountability, and case management to them make progress towards goals.

Counselors must be able to deliver practical, evidence based recovery educational services, which are Biblically supported and twelve-step compatible. Must work internally and externally to assist guests in attaining necessary and appropriate Christian and support services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide counseling support to MH guests who reside in Overcomers Transitional housing.
• Have a willingness to share the good news of Jesus Christ, give a personal testimony and pray with/for those served by the ministry. Be comfortable and willing to lead a guest to the Lord.
• Duties will be performed primarily during 2nd shift hours and on Saturdays due to guest employment during weekdays.
• Models vulnerability to the guests when appropriate.
• Serve guests who desire to find change from homelessness, addictions, and/or mental health issues through counseling, case management, group facilitation, teaching, and coordination of services.
• Assist guests in coordinating necessary services internally and externally of the ministry while developing partnerships within the community.
• Assist guests by helping them set and achieve transition goals.
• Conduct random drug and alcohol tests on transitional guests.
• Assure quality and consistency of guest care by maintaining case management database while using approved counseling and case management skills and tools.
• Maintain proper channels of communication within as well as outside of the facility.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and have routine meetings with the Director, Overcomers.
• Occasional representation of Miracle Hill through visiting and presentations at local churches, businesses and partner agencies.
• Develop relationships with volunteers.
• Other duties as assigned by the director.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Direct supervision of a maximum caseload of 48 guests (24 per week).
• Direct supervision of Part Time Resident Support Person and a Ministry Trainee.
• Responsible to oversee transition housing operations.
• Responsible to participate in transition guest evaluation and correction.

.Qualifications:

• Education or equivalent experience: A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field, A Master's degree is preferred.
• Years of experience: 3-5 years in a related field.
• Clean driving record to be able to be on Miracle Hill insurance and willing to drive.
• Mental health training and/or experience in professional mental health fields is preferred.
• Specialized training helpful: ministry, public or business administration, social science, case management, addictions, problem solving, and decision making.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills.
• Possess the ability to speak the truth in love while accurately interpreting communication in relationship.
• License/Certification: Become AACC certified within one year of employment.
• Other: If applicant is in recovery, a minimum of 5 years clean and sober is required for eligibility.
