    The Mechanical Engineering group at SMRT comprises HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, process, and commissioning.

    We work alongside SMRT's architectural, structural, electrical, site, and interiors groups from project inception through design and construction to advance our clients vision.

    Our designers, engineers, commissioning agents, and project managers are also involved in project pursuits and business development.

    The Schenectady office of SMRT is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with talent, expertise, and enthusiasm to help us grow our team.


    Responsibilities:
    Participate in project pursuits and play a role in the marketing and positioning of the firm.
    Serve as Engineer of Record for Mechanical scope of projects.
    Explore mechanical design options, establish concepts, and oversee the documentation of project scope.

    Supervise quality and efficient production of contract documentsContribute to SMRT integrated design and sustainability initiatives by using various software and tools.

    Perform and oversee energy modeling and calculationsCoordinate and communicate project workloads with discipline leaders and other members of the mechanical groupWork under supervision of discipline leaders with the potential of co-leading local resourcesCollaborate and communicate with other in-house disciplines across the firmAssist in the local recruitment process as requested.

    Requirements:


    Minimum of 15 years of HVAC experience with capability to lead projects of all sizes from concept development through detailed design and construction documents for a variety of clients, including healthcare, life science and specialty research and manufacturing.

    Strong business development and networking skills.
    Track record of successfully managing projects and motivated to build and maintain relationships through outstanding client service.
    Able to lead the HVAC aspects of multiple projects simultaneously.
    Knowledge of national, state and local codes and industry standards.
    Committed to staying current in the profession.
    Excellent written and spoken communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
    Ability to lead and mentor others in the discipline.
    A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
