Primary purpose:
The Senior Principal Engineer-Static Equipment will support the design of pressure vessels, columns & towers and atmospheric ammonia storage tanks that are engineered and constructed for Tallgrass Energy as well as purchased from third-party suppliers.
The Engineer-Static Equipment will review static equipment design and coordinate with other disciplines to ensure a safe and proper design.
This resource will also provide key technical expertise for the Ammonia Terminal and other developing projects.Essential duties and responsibilities
Single point of contact for Tallgrass Entergy's pressure vessels, tanks, columns, towers and ancillary equipment for our ATR based ammonia and liquified ammonia storage including creating estimates, execution strategies, and technical risk statements.
Responsible for the detailed mechanical engineering of pressure vessels, cryogenic distillation columns, internals and other cryogenic equipment that Tallgrass Energy is buying.
Complete pressure boundary calculations to meet specific codes (e.g. ASME sections).Provide detailed analysis of wind, seismic, shipping and support designs.
Specification of various non-rotating equipment including heat exchangers, v-wire screens, demisters.
Review and validate supplier calculations and drawings for purchased equipment compliance to codes and specifications.
Interact with Tallgrass fabrication facilities including occasional onsite visits.
Vendor inspections and construction/start-up support.
Support of project development and initiatives.
Actively collaborate with internal teams and external third-parties to meet project commitments, costs, and schedules. support equipment and labor estimates for proposed projects and bidding activities.
Collaborate with a variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
Other daily, weekly, monthly, or special projects may be assigned.
Minimum
requirements :
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
Must qualify as "Responsible Charge" per ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1,2 as a minimum
20 years' experience in engineering/design of pressure vessels or similar. Preferably in ATR based ammonia plants.
Strong working knowledge of pressure vessel and heat exchanger design codes including ASME BPVC Section VIII, GB, GOST, KGSC, etc.
Experience with manufacturing design and fabrication drawingsExperience with pressure vessel design software such as COMPRESS
Proficiency in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
Competencies, Skills & Abilities:
Strong technical skills in the design of pressure vessels and heat exchangers
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to require work schedules, and follow company policies.
Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines and prioritize work.Physical Demands:

Working Conditions:
Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
Vendor inspections and construction/start-up support may be required which include trips to vendors and plant locations worldwide.
May be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
Candidates will be required to clear a drug screen and complete a background check, including a credit report for certain positions after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications,
Competencies, Skills & Abilities:
Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:
Registered Professional Engineer in at least one state of the United States.
Experience with stress analysis software such as AutoPIPE, Caesar, FEA etc. is preferred.
Experience with Fatigue analysis is a plus.
Code Committee membership is desirable.
