    Description

    Goodspeed Merrill (GM) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Paralegal to support a thriving and growing Litigation practice. Work in partnership and under the direction of attorneys at Goodspeed Merrill to develop close relationships with clients, establish legal needs, help them understand their options, and support their representation in court and/or negotiations.

    Paralegals at GM provide active support by investigating the facts of cases, organizing and maintaining legal files, and writing reports used to prepare for trial. You will obtain formal statements and affidavits that are useful in court, conduct research, prepare legal documents, and perform other duties to ensure that GM clients receive the best and most cost-effective legal solutions.

    Completion of a professional certification program is desirable (but not mandatory), along with 5+ years of related experience & knowledge, and an ability to think critically, analyze problems, and recommend solutions. Candidates should be highly detailed and organized with a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of team members.

    The successful candidate will be familiar with standard legal concepts, practices, and procedures necessary to support a growing general litigation practice. The candidate will be comfortable relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with a certain degree of creativity and latitude, while performing a variety of tasks under the general supervision of the Practice lead and/or accountable attorney.

    Experience, Education, and Certification Requirements:

    • Minimum 5+ years' experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant or completion of a paralegal certificate program
    • Experience in working concurrently with multiple attorneys in a practice
    • Experience may substitute for completion of a certification program
    • Knowledge of and experience with both Colorado and Federal court systems and the Rules of Civil Procedure (CRCP/FRCP)
    • Bachelor's degree and advanced education is a plus
    • County court experience is also desirable
    • Familiarity with and or ability to learn systems necessary for the practice of law (ProLaw, MS Office, MS Teams, etc)

    Responsibilities and Key Results:

    • Manage day to day activities including documentation of matters in ProLaw
    • Calendar deadlines, court hearings/trials, and arbitration deadlines/hearings
    • Provide organization to client documents and related documentation
    • Preparation of disclosures and production of documents including creation/maintenance of indexes and utilization of Bates labeling
    • Prepare deposition summaries
    • Communicate with Attorneys and/or Partners on work status and client issues that arise
    • Achieve positive reviews/feedback from clients
    • Proportionately contribute to overall client satisfaction and firm operating goals
    • Attain minimum billing hours (utilization) on a monthly and annual basis
    • This is an in person role
    • Be available 8 hours per day, if not out of office at meetings, hearings, depositions, or trial

    Job Type: Full-time

    Salary Range: $70, $80,000.00 per year
