    POSITION SUMMARY


    Senior Engineering Manager that supervises an engineering group in the support of ESG Production with regard to the detailed design of various types of vessels, marine crafts and floating structures such as ships, barges, and tugs.

    Responsible for the review and corrections of the detailed design and 3D model of marine craft's systems (pipe, machinery, auxiliaries, electrical, etc.), performing drawing review, red line adjudication, Engineering change request and stop work notice response, and in general working with other Senior Engineering Managers to resolve production problems.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:


    Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.

    Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
    Responsible for oversight of the Field Engineering personnel and operations.
    Coordinates and interacts with the design disciplines, clients, vendors, and craft superintendents when necessary.

    Supervise and lead a group of designers, drafters and engineers in the Field Engineering team, assigning tasks per schedule, production needs and maintaining close tracks of hours used per assigned budget.

    Apply standard design principles and theories to resolve production problems and stop work issues.
    Where necessary and with concurrence of discipline managers, modify production/fabrication drawings of all systems.
    Ensure compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.
    Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the review of drawings.
    Make required changes, additions, and/or revisions, as directed by immediate supervisor.
    Preform other duties as assigned.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Directly and/or indirectly supervise employees assigned to the Field Engineering group. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.

    Job Requirements


    REQUIREMENTS

    Education/Experience:


    Bachelor degree in Engineering, (Master's degree and/or Professional Engineer's license preferred); 5 years of naval architecture and shipyard experience and required experience includes strong and proven knowledge in the use of FORAN or other 3D Design Software, AutoCad, MSC Nastran, and Rhino.


    Skills:
    Intermediate level Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook experience required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, employees and the public. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form. Proficiency in FORAN or similar software such as AVEVA, NUPAS CADMATIC, ShipConstructor or similar CAD/CAM software required. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to work in a fast- paced environment, display an attention for detail, and function as a team player.
