General Description
Perform custodial and janitorial tasks in City restrooms, recreation centers, pool buildings, parks offices, work spaces, offices and other facilities.
Essential Job Functions

Uses proper types of cleaning agents or equipment to dust, sweep, mop, scrub, buff and wax floors; wash windows; clean walls, ceilings, furniture, woodwork and restrooms according to established sanitation standards and replenishing supplies such as towels, soap, etc.
Drives vehicle to deliver equipment and materials to job sites.
Prepares required reports relating to equipment, and work performed.
Cleans offices, empties waste baskets, collects and dispose of trash, and sweeps walks around public buildings.
Moves and sets up furniture; prepares rooms for scheduled programs and activities.
Inspects mechanical equipment and makes minor repairs as necessary.
Assists in storing, moving and securing of parks and equipment.
Maintains facilities and parks to include: pressure washing equipment, sidewalks, various courts, bleachers and walls.
Participates in maintenance of parks, fields and courts where tasks include: litter picking, racking and or blowing leaves and debris, and cleaning garbage cans.
Performs unskilled maintenance work.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the materials, methods, and practices used in a large scale custodial operation. Knowledge of the operation, use, and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and other janitorial equipment. Knowledge of sanitation standards and occupational hazards.
Ability to properly use janitorial equipment and materials. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, other departments and the public. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to keep records and to make reports. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks and work safely. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and physical agility sufficient to perform assigned duties. Ability to perform related tasks.
Education & Experience Requirements: Graduation from high school; two (2) years of experience in custodial or janitorial work. Possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License at all times.
