    SUMMARY: The Audiology position is responsible for providing regional audiological services to the respective school districts. This position will work closely with the regions Magnet program to ensure eligible students are receiving appropriate supports and services. The Audiologist will work on developing and monitoring regional audiological services for special education and 504 eligible students while maintaining child find protocols within the respective schools. The Audiologist will help build and sustain relationships within and between the local schools and community and state agencies to ensure eligible students are identified, evaluated, and provided the necessary supports and services to meet their audiological needs.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Administer audiological diagnostic objective tests and record results for Tympanometry, Acoustic Reflexes, Otoacoustic Emissions & Non-Sedated Auditory Brainstem Response.
    • Provide diagnostic behavioral testing including but not limited to Conventional Visual Reinforced Audiometry, Conditioned Play Audiometry (in a calibrated sound booth), Word Recognition, speech noise, aided testing etc.
    • Provided functional listening evaluations including but not limited to hearing aid fitting, programming, and troubleshooting; earmold fabrication and modification; provision of FM/DM recommendations including set-up and troubleshooting etc.
    • Provide Coordination of care between outside medical professionals and district staff including but not limited to helping order and fund audiological equipment for students, as well as consulting with outside medical practitioners about patient needs.
    • Provide IEP/IFSP & 504 team support as required, including maintaining student medical records for program development.
    • Provide Audiological Counseling for students and families.
    • Develop and manage hearing screening programs in the K-12 schools, Head Start and Early childhood Education Programs.
    • Provide audiological counseling for students and families.
    • Manage and maintain confidentiality of all student records.
    • Other requested duties within the scope of training of an Educational Audiologist.
    • Follow all applicable Board policies and procedures.
    Supervisory:
    Audiological support staff, as needed.

    OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • WA State ESA School Audiologist Certification, and knowledge of principles, techniques and methods of audiology in the educational environment.
    • Masters degree or higher in Audiology.
    • Ability to effectively and positively communicate with students, school staff, parents and community members.
    • Ability to effectively use technology.
    • Knowledge of the unique educational needs of deaf and hard of hearing students including a basic knowledge of ASL, the Deaf culture and community.
    • Ability to maintain written records and progress notes regarding goals and therapy strategies on students served.
    • Possess operating knowledge of a variety of audiometric instruments and related materials.
    • Experience in Audiological Pediatric Services.
    • Ability to use professional judgment and carry out all assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision while maintaining confidentiality.
    • Must be able to pass state and federal criminal background screenings.

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, travel may be required to local school districts and program sites. Sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Lifts and carries a maximum of 35 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

    Hazards: Those present in a normal office environment; no known significant hazards.
