    Role Overview

    The Department of Pastoral Care at UNC Health Rex in Raleigh, NC seeks passionate per diem chaplains to join its chaplaincy team. The department offers robust ACPE CPE and clinical chaplaincy programs.

    This role provides on-call coverage, offering pastoral care to patients, family members, and staff within hospitals. The chaplain responds to spiritual care needs, initiates follow-up, documents encounters, and completes administrative tasks as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    1. Provides pastoral care and support during assigned on-call shifts, considering patient safety needs.
    2. Participates in the ministry through overnight on-call schedules, responding pastorally and timely to situations requiring care and support.
    3. Responds to pages, referrals, and EPIC consults, including traumas, deaths, and codes.
    4. Leaves referrals for other chaplain staff members as necessary.
    5. Documents all pastoral care encounters in EPIC and the departmental log.
    6. Completes administrative tasks, such as LMS modules and Employee Health requirements.
    7. Works at least one on-call shift per quarter.

    Requirements

    • Masters' degree (MDiv) or equivalent preferred.
    • Ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement from denomination/faith group preferred but not required.
    • Completion of a minimum of one unit of ACPE CPE.
