- Arrives punctually, fit, and ready for work, void of issues related to inadequate rest, current illness, injury, or impairment by any medication or other substance.

- Responds to calls when dispatched and may drive an ambulance to emergency site using the most expeditious route permitted by weather and road conditions.
- Assesses the safety of the scene, gains access to the patient, and assesses the extent of injury or illness.
- Communicates with dispatchers requesting additional assistance or services as necessary.
- Assesses and monitors vital signs and the general appearance of the patient for change.
- Assists with lifting, carrying, and properly loading the patient into the ambulance.
- Reports verbally and in writing observations of the the patient's emergency and the care provided.
- Relays operational issues regarding their crew, vehicle, equipment, and supplies to the Shift Leader.
- Accounts for and inspects the vehicle, equipment, and supplies. Resolves any vehicle, equipment, and supplies issues, within their capability.
- Evaluates arriving employees for punctuality, fitness, and readiness for work including issues related to inadequate rest, current illness, injury, or impairment by any medication or other substance.
- Serves as an on-site resource to employees for start-of-shift issues including, but not limited to: equipment issues, interpersonal crew conflict, and coworker uniform and cleanliness.
- Makes emergency crew changes in the absence of other appropriate management representatives to facilitate uninterrupted EMS operations in the event of an unexpected absence during any shift.
- Customarily functions as a clinical resource to supervise, direct, provide, or otherwise facilitate high-quality patient care.
- Relays operational issues regarding individual EMS crews to the Operations Coordinator.
- Receives complaints from other agencies, facility staff, patients, families, and others affected by the company's EMS operations, and immediately notify the on-duty Shift Leader.
- As delegated or requested by the on-duty Operations Coordinator or Administrative Management, assists with other management functions as appropriate.
- Promotes a culture of safety for all employees, patients, and stakeholders by educating employees in workplace safety policies; observes, corrects, and reports safety concerns and deficiencies to the on-duty Operations Coordinator.
- Implements Safety Best Practices during every shift, monitors its effectiveness and gives report to the on-duty Operations Coordinator
- Investigates the factual circumstances surrounding on-duty injuries and safety violations with an emphasis on prevention and correction over discipline, and gives report to the on-duty Operations Coordinator.
- Enforces company policy through effective communication, informal counseling, and, if necessary, appropriate and consistent progressive discipline consisting of documented counseling sessions.
- Assists in completion of annual Fit Testing companywide to ensure OSHA compliance. Ensure fit testing supplies are stocked at Stations.
- Regularly participates in the Employee Recognition Program by identifying and nominating staff for recognition.
- Must currently be certified by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services as an AEMT-Paramedic and maintain this certification.

- Have and maintain Class "D" New York State Driver License or higher or analogous equivalent from another jurisdiction without record of suspension or revocation in any State. Must be deemed insurable to operate an emergency vehicle.
- Must be at least 18 years of age prior to the last day of the month in which scheduled to take written certification exam.
- Ability to communicate effectively via telephone and radio equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry and balance up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance)
- Ability to interpret oral, written, and diagnostic form instructions.
- Ability to interview patients, patient family members and bystanders.
- Ability to maintain sustained patient contact for considerable periods of time.
- Ability to participate in long distance transports.
- Ability to document, in writing, all relevant information in prescribed format in light of legal ramifications of such.
- Ability to work with other providers to make appropriate patient care decisions.
- One or more years' experience as a functioning EMT in a high-volume system.
- Prior management or supervisory experience.

Starting Pay: $87,880 - $113,568. Based on 4, 12-hour shifts per week (48 hours) @ $31.50-$42/hour base rate. Base rate at hire based on prior supervisory, Paramedic and SCT/CC experience.*PLUS $10,000.00 Paramedic Sign-on/Retention Bonus** & an extra $2.00 per hour for weekend shifts (Friday night through Monday morning).

Summary/Objective
Employees in this job role serve as management representatives for the company in a variety of roles and situations. Under general or administrative supervision, and acting independently, with other counterparts in the same role, or through delegation to employees, the Supervisor uses general methods and procedures customary to the performance of the job to select the proper course of action in a given situation and allow individual crews to maintain operational readiness for EMS operations.
During a shift: under general supervision of the on-duty Operations Coordinator, the Supervisor carries out management directives and serves as a model employee and key surveillance point for emerging issues that may affect operations and employee safety.
In specific administrative roles: under general supervision of other departmental management, carries out specific tasks in the allotted time budgeted and reports to designated management representative as appropriate.
This work requires knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations that affect the company's operations.
