    Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA

    The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA, has an immediate opening for a full-time, board certified/board eligible Primary Care Physician. Shreveport is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the 'Ark-La-Tex', the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. You'll enjoy a unique combination of two great American heritages: a little Cajun, and since we're less than 15 minutes from the Texas border, a little Lone Star, too.     Highlights of this position include:

  • Competitive Starting Salary $215,000 - $230,000
  • Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm. Occasional call on weekends
  • Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention to scheduled and unscheduled patients in the outpatient clinic setting
  • Works collaboratively with other health care professionals to accomplish patient, service, and medical center goals, promoting and embracing the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care
  • Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings to establish a diagnosis and initiate appropriate response to emergency health problems
  • Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as appropriate, recommend treatment and/or referral
  • Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations to other clinical services
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-Citizen candidates will be considered if a U.S. Citizen is not found
  • Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State
  • Additional Requirements:

  • Board Certified with Family Practice and/or VA experience preferred
