TITLE: International Baccalaureate Grant Tutor

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree
• Classroom or tutoring experience preferred
• Connecticut teaching certificate preferred but not required

REPORT TO

CIBA Principal

JOB GOAL: Provide academic support in specialized areas of instruction for students at CIBA primarily in grades 9 and 10. Work with teachers and guidance counselor to identify and schedule students in need of academic assistance. Prepare and conduct seminars on study skills and time management. Organize peer tutoring program.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide academic assistance to students in grades 9 and 10, with occasional assistance to students in grades 11 and 12.
• Identify (with teacher and guidance counselor input) and schedule students for tutoring sessions during study halls.
• Tutor students individually or in groups of no more than three.
• Monitor after-school homework center.
• Prepare and conduct seminars on organizational skills and time management to be presented during study halls.
• Assist teachers with class activities as available and appropriate.
• Evaluate student progress and report to teachers and guidance counselor on student progress.
• Coordinate the Student Peer Tutoring program.
• Cover classes if substitutes are not available.
• Other duties as appropriate and may be assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Six hours per day. Ten-month year. Salary is hourly.

Continued employment contingent upon grant funding.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified Staff.
