- Being a Long-Term Acute Care RN/LPN involves providing care to patients with chronic conditions and prolonged or incurable illnesses.
- Patients may need ventilator support and weaning, respiratory care, IV medications or transfusions, specialized wound treatment, or ongoing dialysis.
- Reporting to the Unit Supervisor.
- Receiving and delivering comprehensive patient reports.
- Assessing, planning, and executing client care.
- Receiving and transcribing physician's orders.
- Assisting with physical exams, following institutional guidelines for patient rounds.
- Providing wound care, including treating Stasis Ulcers.
- Administering oxygen, changing dressings, and inserting urinary catheters.
- Administering and documenting medications orally, intramuscularly, and intravenously.
- Managing intravenous medications, discontinuing or adding additional IV bottles.
- Performing blood draws and caring for patients with tracheal and endotracheal tubes, including suctioning.
- Obtaining laboratory specimens, administering CPR, and other required emergency procedures.
- Caring for patients needing close monitoring but not requiring ICU care.
- Performing EKG tests and interpretations.
- Proficiency in ventilator patient care.
- Administering medications through intravenous lines and making necessary adjustments.
- Must hold a valid RN/LPN license.
- Minimum of one year of experience in LTAC or ICU/Acute Care.
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing School.
- Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications.
