Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)- Georgia School for the Deaf is seeking 2 skilled General Trades Tech 2 to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for various building trades tasks, such as repairs, maintenance, and construction projects for state buildings and related structures. The key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Description of Duties

• Install and upkeep security, climate control, and other facility systems
• Assemble, repair, and maintain electrical, electronic components, plumbing systems, machinery, and equipment
• Identify and resolve mechanical and structural issues, following blueprints and repair manuals
• Ensure all maintenance meets quality standards and timelines
• Manage hazardous materials in compliance with regulations
• Install, evaluate, and repair system components
• Operate building automation systems and plant equipment
• Utilize trade tools and equipment
• Maintain accurate inventory of materials and equipment
• Perform painting, carpentry, roofing tasks
• Conduct general maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance for smooth machine operation and building conditions
• Interpret blueprints and sketches for work planning
• Renovate existing facilities or construct additions
• Repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, lighting, HVAC systems
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with additional plumbing, electrical, carpentry skills, basic computer knowledge, or familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL).
