Early Childhood Mental Health Family Support Specialist
Reports To: Program Director
Job Location: Roxbury, MA
Work Schedule: Full-time, may require occasional evening or weekend hours.
The goal of the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program is to enhance social-emotional and behavioral health outcomes for children, families, and early childhood professionals by fostering nurturing environments. We are looking for a compassionate Family Support Specialist to join us in this mission. This position involves providing vital support and resources to families with young children facing social-emotional or behavioral challenges across various ECE settings. Join us if you are passionate about promoting wellness in young children and enhancing adult caregivers' capacity to support children's developmental needs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work closely with program clinicians/consultants to provide crucial support to ECE programs.
- Build strong relationships between children, their peers, and caregivers.
- Collaborate with families, centers, and other early childhood systems.
- Assess the needs and strengths of families with young children.
- Offer personalized guidance to families navigating social-emotional challenges.
- Facilitate parent support groups and workshops.
- Advocate for families and connect them with necessary services.
- Support adults caring for children's mental health and well-being.
- Maintain accurate records and participate actively in the team.
- Keep updated on best practices in the field.
- Adhere to grant requirements and perform other assigned duties.
Education and Work Experience Qualifications:
Required:
- Experience in social, emotional, behavioral, or mental health caregiving.
- Previous work with families and young children.
- Knowledge of child development and early childhood mental health.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and cultural competence.
- Proficiency in various tools and ability to meet deadlines.
- Valid MA Driver's License and Vehicle Insurance.
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in related fields.
- Experience with young children facing emotional/behavioral challenges.
- Relevant trainings/certifications.
