    Posnack School's Fischer High School seeks an Associate Director of College Counseling to join a growing team of colleagues who are creative and collaborative. The Associate Director will serve as a college counselor for a cohort of students, and high school experience is preferred. This is a 12-month position beginning July 1, 2024.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • As the college counselor to an assigned cohort of students and families, provide effective guidance, support, education, and mentorship through the college search and application process, beginning in the fall of junior year.
    • Support students and families in navigating the athletic recruitment and/or artistic application process.
    • Understand the college admission process at various institution types and selectivity levels and be prepared to guide students considering gap years.
    • Apply broad knowledge of various college admissions, academic, testing, and financial aid policies to advise students and families in developing well-balanced college lists.
    • Assist with devising, planning, and implementing college counseling and academic advising events and programs for students and families.
    • Present effective meetings and presentations for classes, parents, and students at critical junctures in the college counseling process.
    • Nurture and develop strong professional relationships with college admissions professionals.
    • Awareness of issues and trends in college admission, higher education, and the testing landscape.
    • Host college representative school visits.
    • Work with faculty on completing teacher recommendations.
    • Write detailed, personal, and comprehensive letters of support for each counselee and advocate for students in the college admissions process.
    • Participate in college tours and regional and national associations such as NACAC, SACAC, and ACCIS.
    • Demonstrate expertise in Gmail/Google Drive applications; experience with Scoir is also valued. Be willing and able to learn necessary programs.
    • Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary for the effective operation of the department.

    QualificationsThe Associate Director of College Counseling must have a bachelor's degree or higher (a master's degree is preferred) and at least two (2) years of experience in college advising in a high school setting or three (3) years of college admission experience. The candidate must also have excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, attention to detail, technological, public speaking, listening, and written skills. Salary is based on experience.
