    Description


    Summary / Objective

    Validation that finished goods being manufactured are of correct dimension, thickness, blend and meet all internal or customer supplied tolerance and specifications. Documentation of raw material lot#, equipment settings and photos of finished good roll quality. Inspection of packaging materials and configurations used to ensure products are kept free and clear of damage. Collection, labeling, logging and submittal of required samples needed for testing by Lab Assigned Quality Technicians. Control of all non-conforming finished goods that do not meet the requirements set forth internally or by the customer. Control of all non-conforming raw materials that may cause non-conforming finished goods to be manufactured. Creation and reporting of customer required certificates of analysis, accurately labeling and logging samples that may be submitted to customers per their requirements. Maintaining the Quality Lab in good working order: floors swept daily, counter-tops wiped clean of dust and debris daily, equipment wiped clean of dust and debris daily, trash removed daily. Ensuring that the testing equipment is with-in calibration and zero'd for use according to testing procedures. Testing completed within the guidelines determined by ASTM or MSE methods. Maintaining a professional working environment and appearance as mandated in the MSE employee handbook. Upholding the safety requirements within the MSE employee handbook.

    Essential Functions
    • Must have a working knowledge of all production line blenders and silo locations.
    • Must be familiar with Job Travelers and Engineering PDF's which give instructions of how to manufacture finished goods according to internal or customer specifications.
    • Must know how to complete a Product Validation form, save the information in the Quality One drive and report the information gathered by using an issued Surface tablet.
    • Must know how to safely operate a fork truck and pass the requirements needed to obtain an MSE issued license.
    • Must have a working knowledge of all lab equipment
    • Ability to determine product requirements are being met by testing against provided tolerances and specifications, the review of results and/or visual inspection of manufactured goods.

    • Test results are logged, documented and reported in an accurate manner to senior management.
    • Sample retains to be accurately marked and stored in the designated areas.
    • Ensure finished goods are being packaged according to the appropriate standard operating procedure (SOP) for that product class.
    • Maintain the lab and testing equipment in good working order, ensuring that inside the lab as well as outside the lab is clean of debris, trash and dust that could affect the results of any of the performed tests.
    • Report to work and maintain good time management and diligent work practices during the duration of the assigned work schedule.
    • At all times abide by the safety requirements as outlined within the MSE Employee Handbook.
    • Personal Protective Equipment required are safety glasses and/or side shields, steel toed shoes and ear protection in designated areas.
    • At all times abide by all requirements as outlined within the MSE Employee Handbook.
    • Effectively produce films on the QC Lab line that are free of melt fracture or wrinkle and are manufactured to an instructed mil thickness and blow-up-ratio, which are of a specified blend.
    • Provide samples and/or test data from lab line films that will better inform senior management and/or customers of production grade products
    • Use basic computer skills in Microsoft software to create, open, format, save, retrieve, and populate documents with Word, Excel, and Outlook. Create folders to sort and save data associated with testing. Routinely use spell and grammar check software(e.g., Grammarly) on all communications.
    • Ability to issue Certificate of Analysis as instructed by customer request, by pulling test data and merging information into the appropriate template in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Accurately document and mark with the appropriate identification number all competitive films submitted for testing and reporting purposes.
    • Complete examination and documentation of all physical attributes of competitive films, accurately documenting any noticeable differences between both sides of the film surface, vent types and patterns, print schematics, colors, placement, repeat.
    • Documentation and reporting of all submitted customer supplied information relative to the performance/requirements of films.
    • You must conform with PPE requirements and Safety Rules.
    PPE requirements and Safety Rules

    1. Eye protection is required everywhere in the plant
    2. Hearing protection is required when crossing the blue lines that are painted on the floor, heading towards the machines
    3. Safety toed shoes or boots are required everywhere in the plant.
    4. Cut gloves are required to be worn on the opposite hand you use to hold a knife when cutting.
    5. Maximum weight allowed to be lifted by one person is 80 pounds. Anything heavier requires the aid from another person, fork lift, big joe, or roll handlers.
    6. Face shields are required to be worn anytime you are over the die during start-up.
    7. Each machine is equipped with multiple safety switches and devices. Although the features are not the same for each machine, they all have safety devices in place to help protect you. These include, pressure sensitive mats, light curtains, pull cords, and emergency stop buttons.
    Work Environment

    This job operates in both an office and plant setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Employee may be exposed to extreme conditions.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to lift and/or move up-to but no more than 80 lbs. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping.     Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time, hourly position. Work are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., on a rotating monthly schedule. Work week is based on a seven-day cycle and days/nights are varied every other week. The employee will work 36 and 48 hours, respectively. This position requires work on weekends and holidays and some overtime is required.

    Education and Experience

    High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred. There is no time frame for skill level position increase; the Technician must prove skills/knowledge before advancement and have Quality Management and Executive Management Approval for multi-step increases.
