- Monitor employee attendance and production reports to ensure adherence to performance and attendance standards.
- Assign daily tasks to operators to ensure customer expectations are met, and make adjustments as necessary to meet production goals.
- Monitor the quality of work performed by operators and take corrective action if the defective rate goes up.
- Ensure that safety policies and procedures are being followed by operators.
- Communicate production and management objectives, technical problems, and personnel issues to all shifts.
- Identify technical problems and make recommendations for their resolution to the engineering staff.
- Suggest permanent corrective actions for quality issues and make recommendations to Quality Control or Engineering for process repairs.
- Make personnel decisions on staffing, including salary increases, employee promotions, and interview and hire new employees.
- Complete annual performance appraisals and provide ongoing feedback to staff.
- Recommend disciplinary action if needed and record in personnel file.
- Train the assistant supervisor (if applicable) in all supervisory functions.
- Coordinate and compile operating and capital budgets and plans.
- Consult with vendors on tooling, machinery, and miscellaneous supplies to maintain relationships and answer questions.
- Attend outside meetings, seminars, and trade shows to stay current with industry information.
- Ensure proper labeling and condition of hazardous waste containers.
- Oversee and inspect hazardous waste storage area.
- Order department supplies, including preparing purchase order requisitions.
- Associate degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing or a related field.
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Basic knowledge of shop math and business calculations.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to understand broad direction on goals and objectives and accomplish the same.
