    Description
    This position will require access to ITAR and/or EAR controlled technical data, technology or source code, and requires that all individuals in this role be authorized to access such information.

    General Description:

    The Controller is a salaried exempt, staff position in charge of the Accounting department and Reception within the Company. This position reports to the Vice President/Chief Financial Officer of the Company. The position requires a strong technical background, and good managerial, supervisory and organizational skills are required. The Controller interacts with a variety of professionals outside of the Company including insurance, governmental representatives, and bankers, therefore good communication skills are required.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Oversee the performance of the Accounting department and Reception
    • Prepare and analyze financial reports, forecasts, and budgets
    • Ensure that the Cost Accounting functions are robust and provide relevant information
    o Coordinate and lead banking and finance relationships

    o Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures and controls
    • Oversee annual financial audit and tax preparation
    • Prepare labor and material rate package for quoting purposes
    Education and Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
    • CPA
    • Supervisory or managerial experience
    • Minimum five years experience in the following areas:
    o Accounting for a manufacturing company

    o Financial statement preparation and analysis

    o Government contracting (FAR, DCMAO audits)

    o Corporate taxation oversight

    o Cost Accounting

    o Cash management

    o Banking, lending, financial

    relationships

    Specific Tasks and Focus Areas:
    • Oversee performance of accounting department's staff and Reception
    • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Administrators, Cost Accountant and Cost Accounting Specialist and Receptionist as direct reports
    • Set department goals, objective, and priorities
    • Oversee training and growth of department employees
      • Prepare and analyze financial reports, forecasts and budgets
    • Monthly and annual Company and departmental financial statements
    • Monthly cash flow forecasts
    • Corporate and department budgets
    • Specialty financial reports
    o Ensure that the Cost Accounting functions are robust and provide relevant information
    • Attend weekly production meetings
    • Ensure that the format of job cost reports provide timely, accurate information
    • Review monthly and program specific scrap reporting for accuracy
    • Advise program managers of sales price deficiencies
    • Ensure that the labor collection system is operating efficiently
    • Ensure that labor collection efforts happen as scheduled
    o Manage tactical cash and banking transactions
    • Manage financing transactions for planned projects
    • Maintain good communication and working relationship with financial institution staff
    • Ensure compliance to current financed instruments
    • Ensure adequate operational cash flow using all available resources
    • Establish and maintain accounting policies and internal controls
      • Ensure internal controls are adequate for safeguarding of assets
      • Review legality of, and compliance with, current policies
      • Ensure new trends are analyzed for possible application and/or changes to current policies
    • Oversee annual financial review and tax preparation
    • Prepare annual corporate financial statements for external auditor's use
    • Schedule and coordinate audit personnel and functions
    • Assist with review of financial information and internal controls
    • Review and approve reviewed financial statements and tax returns
    • Prepare labor and material rate package for quoting purposes
    • Develop rate structure for labor and material values
    • Complete required governmental audits
    • Provide backup documentation to sales as required
