- Clinical Decision Making/Judgment:
- Demonstrate clinical nursing knowledge and skill in the specialization of the unit.
- Apply the nursing process effectively in the care of culturally diverse patients and families.
- Organize and reprioritize patient care activities based on subtle and overt changes.
- Consistently and thoroughly assess patients to collect data and identify learning needs.
- Develop and individualize a plan of care for each patient.
- Nurse-Patient Family Relationships:
- Assess the patient's/family's learning needs, readiness to learn, learning style, and presence of barriers to learning.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate teaching plans for patient populations.
- Provide direct patient care to patients and families in a culturally, developmentally, and ethically appropriate manner.
- Clinical Scholarship:
- Participate in QI, CPI, and risk management activities at the unit, department, or organizational level.
- Sustain evidence-based practice and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
- Clinical Leadership:
- Participate in unit shared governance according to departmental standards.
- Contribute to the education and orientation of new staff.
- Empower other nurses by delegating tasks effectively and evaluating delegated activities.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Meet credentialing requirements as stated in the nursing bylaws.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- ACLS certification within one year of hire.

Staff Nurse (RN) - Observation Unit
An outpatient setting for patients who require additional monitoring and intervention after their visit to the Emergency Department.
Position Overview:
This is a challenging and dynamic environment that requires flexibility, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. As a Staff Nurse in our Observation Unit, you will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care and promote excellent outcomes.
