    The Center for Specialized Services

    is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that helps people with disabilities lead full and productive lives. Founded in 1986, the Center has been providing rehabilitative and support services in our community for over 30 years. The Center offers 17 programs individualized to meet the needs of participants. These programs include medical therapies, counseling, vocational and employment services, two adult day programs, and three social enterprises. The Center has helped thousands of people in the St. Louis metropolitan area.


    JOB TITLE:
    Community Supports Director


    JOB CLASSIFICATION:
    Full time, 40 hours/week; Exempt


    REPORTS TO:
    Executive Director


    JOB PURPOSE:
    Direct and Manage Community Support Services programs to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services to program participants.

    Assist in the hiring, training, and management program staff Serve as the lead resource staff member to the Community Support team.

    Assist in the plan development of individualized training for each consumer who is looking to transition into an independent living setting or improve and maintain skills for self-support in community living.

    Assign staff members. Assist occupational therapist to identify target goals in individual plans. Identify teaching techniques, learning style, and appropriate compensatory strategies to build consumers' independent self-care and daily living skills.


    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Supervise and train direct care staff

    Participate in the interviewing and hiring of staff

    Provide staff trainings and ensure trainings are kept current

    Routinely provide feedback to all staff to encourage high performance

    Monitor program implementationRoutinely review daily documentation including but not limited to progress logs and data collection

    Sustain fiscal responsibility by ensuring that staff consistently maintains productivity requirements

    Consistently seek out new opportunities for participants to connect with their community

    Monitor program performance monthly and create action plans for any issues

    Ensure approved referrals start services within set timelines

    Implement Individual Support PlansEnsure action plans are implemented as recommended by interdisciplinary team and results are reported to the appropriate professional

    Always maintain high professional standards

    Maintain competency by engaging in activities of professional development

    Maintain client and agency files in accordance with funder and accrediting requirements

    Familiarizes self with and follows Agency and Department Policies and Procedures


    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

    Education/experience:

    Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 24 earned credit hours in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Counseling, Recreation (including specialty areas such as Art, Dance, Music, or Physical Education), Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing, or other specialties in the field of human services, or four years of full time paid experience providing direct care to persons with developmental disabilities as defined by DMH, or a combination of the two.

    QDDP relevant experience preferred.

    Skills:
    Must possess sound knowledge of disabilities (6 months-1-year direct care experience) and have knowledge of support services. Must be able to problem-solve, prioritize and plan in order to meet deadlines, communicate well, and multi-task. Basic computer skills preferred.

    Must have working vehicle with gas to transport as needed during shift, valid insurance, and a driver's license (Class E Missouri) with ability to travel independently.

    Must have the ability to continually walk or stand up to three hours; must have the ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak effectively in English; must have the ability to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 50 pounds in weight, and must have the ability to do basic math.
