    SUMMARY: This is a professional child development position with expertise in early childhood education, child development, and effective parent engagement strategies. Incumbent works directly with families facilitating developmental playgroups that foster social/emotional, cognitive/language and physical domains of development and providing child development screening that supports and promotes positive parent/child attachment. Effective strategies are used to help parents gain the knowledge and skills required to raise thriving and healthy children. This position reports to the Program Director.

    Full-time, 37.5 hours per week schedule, $20.00 per hour. Approximately $39,000.00 per year. Monday - Friday.

    Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

    1. Plan and conduct developmental playgroups with young children that promote positive adult/child interactions, and child development and early learning education to caregivers. This includes assisting with curriculum development, parent workshop facilitation and sourcing and organizing playgroup resources.
    2. Plan and deliver child development screening to parents and caregivers that supports and promotes positive parent/child attachment, interaction and child development education. A) Specific functions include: facilitates and completes the ASQ3/ASQ-SE, Identifies potential developmental concerns and make appropriate referrals for children with questionable or delayed scores, shares results with families, supports families thorough follow-ups with additional learning activities, referrals and linkages to other community based services. B.)Collaborates successfully and builds relationships with early childhood partners (e.g. Child Find, Early Steps, ECC, etc.) and other stakeholders, providers, and partners.
    3. Manage the participant registration process to maintain accuracy and timeliness.
      • Complete accurate and timely data collection in support of program's reporting, contract, grant, accreditation and agency requirements.
    4. Participate in outreach and engagement services in support of children and families and program/organization goals and objectives.
    5. Plan and lead special events in support of program goals.
    6. Collect and report all parent fees, donations, etc. in a timely manner and in accordance with agency procedure.
    7. Support the agency's performance and quality improvement processes.
    8. Attend staff meetings, on-going in-service training and reflective supervision as required.
    9. Participate on appropriate agency, department and community planning teams.
    10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Minimum Bachelor's Degree in child development, early childhood education, and/or related human services focusing on early childhood and families.
    2. Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience working with families and children.
    3. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
    4. Professional, self-directed, follow-through on projects and prompt responsiveness to internal and external stakeholders.
    5. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathetic, patient, tactful)
    6. Strong organizational and record keeping skills
    7. Proficiency in of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, & PowerPoint and web-browsing.
    8. Familiarity and comfort with social media platforms.
    9. Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, kneel, bend, reach, and manipulate objects; move materials up to 10 lbs on a regular basis; infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
    10. Some travel to other worksites in Hillsborough County required.
    11. Must be sensitive to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the population that Champions for Children serves.
    12. Must have reliable vehicle, active auto insurance, and a valid Florida driver's license.
    13. Must successfully complete a Florida level 2 criminal background clearance, motor vehicle records check and drug screening.
