Overview

The Pediatric Satellite Team provides supplemental staffing across Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC and Atrium Health Cabarrus Levine Children's Jeff Gordon Children's Center in Concord, NC. HCT's support all pediatric areas within Levine Children's and Jeff Gordon's in various roles/functions i.e., CNA, Unit Secretary, Patient Safety Attendant or assist with Virtual Observations.

Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital (LCH) has taken the community to another level of service to provide care for the growing population of children in our region. At 247 beds, LCH is the largest children's hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC. It serves high patient acuity as the flagship children's hospital within the innovative Atrium Health and offers a full complement of over 125 pediatric subspecialists in over 30 different pediatric specialties. We have 4 pediatric hospitalist teams, a 20-bed PICU (including Cardiac ICU), an 85-bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation facility. Levine Children's also has Charlotte's only Level 1 Trauma emergency room just for kids, staffed by doctors trained in pediatric emergency medicine. LCH has successfully ranked among the "Best Children's Hospitals" in the nation by US News & World Report for over 15 consecutive years. Additionally, Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Levine Children's Hospital have earned Magnet re-designation from The American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program. Atrium Health Levine Children's Jeff Gordon Children's Center (JGCC) is a 28-bed children's unit within Atrium Health Cabarrus that serves the surrounding counties to deliver inpatient and sub-specialty care to the pediatric patients of that community. The children's unit is a general pediatric, Progressive Care, and Epilepsy unit. JGCC is home to the regions only dedicated pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and is a Level 3 EMU designated by the National Association for Epilepsy Centers. It has also been accredited through The Joint Commission for disease specific certification for Epilepsy. Support services are available to the patients and families we serve with Certified Child Life Specialists throughout the children's unit and ancillary departments. With an active Family Advisory Council, JGCC continuously evaluates and adapts to the needs of the patients and families we serve. JGCC is a part of Levine Children, which has successfully ranked among the "Best Children's Hospitals" in the nation by US News & World Report for over 15 consecutive years.

Job Summary

The Nurse Aide/Healthcare Technician assists in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Assists in maintaining a clean, safe patient environment and performs job responsibilities in a safe manner. Maintains clinical and professional competencies as appropriate to the needs of the patient population served.

Essential Functions

• Supports patients/residents with activities of daily living.
• Assists patients/residents with personal hygiene.
• Takes vital signs and height and weight measurements.
• Feeds and ambulates patients/residents according to specific procedures.
• Maintains patient/resident's rooms in a clean and orderly condition.
• Observes and reports changes in patient/resident conditions.
• Orients patients/families to unit and instructs patient on safety measures.
• Assists with clerical work such as, including answering phones, entering data and maintaining medical records.
• Maintains stock supply items in inventory management.
• Performs duties as outlined in the scope of Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II tasks (per North Carolina Board of Nursing Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II Tasks List).
• Perform technical tasks with appropriate training such as administering a 12- Lead Electrocardiogram test and routine venipuncture.

Physical Requirements

Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stretching, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak and understand English in good understandable terms. Must have manual and finger dexterity. Physical abilities testing required.

Education, Experience and Certifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I or with the North Carolina Board of Nursing as a Nurse Aide II.
• BLS required per policy guidelines.
