- Support and supervise Unit Counselors in all capacities, including:
- Day-to-day operations, schedules, and routines
- Camper behavioral management
- Delegating tasks and managing appropriate workloads and time off
- Ensure a positive atmosphere and well-being for all campers and Unit Counselors
- Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem-solving in a group setting
- Maintain communication with the Outdoor Program Manager regarding unit and camper status and needs
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information regarding business affairs, programs, campers, or staff members
- Interact daily with campers and work to provide a safe and consistent environment
- Understand and know staff and campers - help them to respect the diversity of others and to appreciate differences and similarities so that campers get the most out of their stay at camp. Program
- In coordination with the Program Director, award campers with accolades earned at camp, complete weekly Camper Highlights, and coordinate any additional program needs
- Coordinates use of facilities, supplies, equipment, and activities to ensure unit schedules meet session goals and activities are balanced and geared toward campers' ages, interests and abilities
- Responsible for leading and assisting fun and meaningful activities to campers; model constructive and enthusiastic participation in all program areas
- Works in conjunction with the Program Director and Program Instructors to create weekly schedules for a girl-driven, safe, creative, and educational program for campers for all campers to experience success

- Manage and maintain a log of any health-related needs of campers, including First Aid, Incident/Accident Forms, medication distribution needs, emergency medicine needs, etc.
- Maintain a daily unit schedule to meet the personal hygiene and sanitation needs of each camper
- Maintain open communication with both the Camp Nurse and Outdoor Program Manager in relation to any camper needs and/or health concerns
- Instruct staff and campers in established emergency procedures such as fire drills, evacuating the cabin, etc., and understand their role in crisis management.
- Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with safety standards set forth by GSUSA
- Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques
- Must be 21+ years of age.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record
- In keeping with our commitment to the Girl Scouts Law and Promise, our council places particular emphasis on teamwork, investment in the success of the organization, and commitment to each other. To align with those values, we expect that all team members will actively engage in 'all call' endeavors as announced by the organization periodically. There are times throughout our year when the work of other departments becomes heavy and/or critically timely. In the spirit of teamwork, it is our requirement that requests for assistance be met with collaborative enthusiasm by all team members. Examples may include but are not limited to-membership recruitment/renewal campaigns and efforts, product program logistics and support to include cookie cupboards and volunteer assistance, volunteer appreciation and engagement, retail inventory and delivery (among regional offices), program signature event participation, and support, and property maintenance/improvement as requested.
- Minimum 19 years of age
- Experience working with youth in an education capacity; outdoor education experience preferred
- Ability to provide constant supervision of campers and help campers navigate emotional well-being during their time at resident camp
- Ability to share living quarters with other staff (may include directly on ground, primitive camping, rustic cabins, platform tents, or lodges) Equipment can be provided as needed.
- Ability to go without electronic devices for several hours or days at a time while on duty (excluding medical necessary devices)
- Provide at least three professional references
- Knowledge of Girl Scout Leadership Experience
- At least six weeks of experience in a supervisory capacity (preferably in organized youth activities)
- Subscribes to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.
- Strong human relations skills and have ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to exercise good judgement
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Solution driven with the ability to effectively problem solve
- Ability to endure prolonged standing, bending, reaching, walking and hiking on uneven, rocky ground.
- Willingness to work outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions including sun, heat, rain, and humidity, etc.
- Understanding of and be comfortable navigating around wildlife animals, i.e., insects, reptiles, mammals, etc.
- Capability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally lift or move objects of up to 50 pounds
- Will live on camp during camp season.
- Will receive one full consecutive 24-hour period off work in a week and 2-3 hour breaks daily.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Administrative Team, the Unit Leader is responsible for providing direct supervision and support to both Unit Leaders and resident campers, identifying and meeting the needs of resident campers, planning and implementing camp program, and working to provide an exceptional camp experience to every camp participant.
