    JOB TITLE: STUDENT SUPPORT COORDINATOR

    REPORTS TO: SCHOOL DIRECTOR

    LEAD Public Schools seeks a Student Support Coordinator (SSC) who possesses an unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels and a strong commitment to going above and beyond to meet their students' needs to prepare them for college and for life.

    JOB GOAL:

    The Student Support Coordinator at LEAD Public Schools supports excellent classroom instruction and promotes a respectful and positive campus environment by working with students, parents, and teachers. This person provides hands-on assistance to students and provides teachers with highly effective student behavior support.

    Our Student Support Coordinators are problem solvers in the area of student behavior and discipline and help support the instructional leaders throughout the campus.     MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    STUDENT BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT

    • Influence the growth and development of an achievement-focused school culture through Crew, positive support systems, consequences, and rewards.
    • Implement the discipline systems for all students.
    • Manage students in the discipline process by providing morning consultations and overseeing lunch periods.
    • Provide in-classroom behavior support to students and teachers as needed. Support teachers in developing and implementing classroom management strategies and plans for individual students as needed.
    • Anticipate potential areas of student behavior needs and work to prevent or deescalate situations as they arise.
    • Meet with students, teachers, and parents, collectively or independently, to implement ways to support a positive and cooperative school environment.
    • Execute decisions based on reasonable judgment that strives to provide fair and equitable treatment and consideration for all students.
    • Maintain and monitor safety and order by being accessible and visible in hallways, classrooms, during arrival/dismissal of students, lunch periods, and after-school programs including detention, homework club, etc.
    • Assist bus drivers in managing behavior on transportation. Be willing to monitor buses if necessary.
    • Maintain databases and up-to-date student information on attendance, discipline, and merit records.
    • Duties as assigned by School Director to aid in the overall school culture.

    COLLABORATION

    • Participate in collaborative learning with staff, grade-level team meetings, and planning across content areas to help support student culture
    • Collaborate with team members to support student progress monitoring and individual growth initiatives through data analysis
    • Coordinate services for all students on caseload, including planning, organizing, and conducting a wide variety of meetings with all relevant team members

    STUDENT AND FAMILY CULTURE

    • Uphold the LEAD Ethos in service of fostering a school culture of respect, responsibility, and engagement in learning
    • Engage families in participating in student success by making personal contact with families and participating in open house nights
    • Serve as a member of the school team by participating in the smooth day-to-day operations of the school, including student arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other functions
    • Cement our commitment to college preparation by supervising local and out-of-state overnight or weekend college and academic trips as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Our ideal Student Support Coordinator is passionate about supporting our students, loves working with students who need the most support, is flexible, is coachable, and wants to grow as an educator.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of two years working with students; two years teaching experience preferred
    • Previous experience with diverse student populations or in an urban setting preferred

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required

    Other Qualifications or Characteristics:

    • Belief in the LEAD mission that all students are capable of success while preparing them for college and for life
    • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
