    Description

    Air and Marine Operations (AMO) offers a unique career opportunity in law enforcement for individuals with Merchant Mariner Credentials.

    Become a Marine Interdiction Agent, working with an elite team of highly trained professionals who protect America's borders while facilitating international travel and trade.

    Salary and Benefits

    Make up to $73,939–$96,116 per year based on your qualifications for the GS-11 grade level, with possible extra compensation based on duty location.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform marine-based law enforcement operations for the detection, prevention, interdiction, and apprehension of terrorists, terrorist weapons, and other contraband.
    • Monitor behavior patterns and activities of suspect persons, vehicles, or vessels.
    • Interpret radar data to calculate appropriate intercept.
    • Search persons, vessels, baggage, and cargo for contraband or weapons incidental to detention or arrest.

    Qualifications

    This position requires a qualifying Merchant Mariner Credential and one year of specialized experience performing duties such as:

    • Controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes.
    • Conducting investigative inquiries using various techniques.
    • Utilizing cameras and electronic surveillance equipment to gather evidence.
    • Writing comprehensive arrest, criminal, and incident reports.

    Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.

    Age Requirement: Candidates must be referred for selection before reaching their 40th birthday, unless exempt by law enforcement retirement provisions.
