    Radiology Technologist

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Carry out radiological examinations under the supervision of a Radiologist and Department Director/Supervisor.
    • Maintain quality care of all patients in the department.

    Competencies:

    1. Call patients to be brought to Radiology.
    2. Log patients in and out of the Meditech system accurately and consistently.
    3. Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to provide quality care services for special age-specific populations.
    4. Stock and restock emergency trays, perform daily inspections, and replace equipment as needed.
    5. Help transport patients, familiarizing themselves with transportation tasks and safety practices.
    6. Assist with functions of the receptionist when necessary.
    7. Comply with hospital/department policies and regulations, including maintaining current state/national certification and attending department meetings.
    8. Keep assigned rooms clean, properly stock materials, and burn off equipment at the end of each shift.
    9. Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures, prepare patients, select and operate imaging equipment, position patients, and apply principles of radiation protection.
    10. Evaluate radiographs or images for technical quality, ensure proper identification, and assume responsibility for patient physical and psychological needs during procedures.
    11. Verify informed consent, assist Radiologists with interventional radiography procedures, initiate basic life support action, and provide patient education.
    12. Perform non-routine duties as directed by the Department Director and/or designee, promoting teamwork and covering additional shifts when requested.
    13. Practice radiological safety at all times, using lead shielding, retrieving correct patient studies, identifying anatomical parts, and wearing radiation monitoring badges.
    14. Operate Computed Radiography (CR) equipment and the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), turning on and shutting down units, associating imaging plates with patients, reviewing images, and modifying patient information as needed.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Associate's Degree in x-ray technology is preferred.
    • Current CPR/BLS is required.
    • High school graduate plus two years of training by an approved American Medical Association Radiologic Technologist program.
    • Must have a good working knowledge of all radiographic positions and exhibit radiation safety practices at all times.
    • Registered by ARRT, state license, and CPR.
