- Operate vehicle safely within DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of hazardous materials.
- Meet or exceed the medical standards of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation and pass both a drug test and alcohol test.
- Operate BLU/DYMS and any other necessary computer/internal freight monitoring systems.
- Available for around-the-clock shifts to support freight movements and capable of extended periods away from home.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must hold a valid commercial driver's license with doubles, triples, and tanker endorsements. Hazmat Preferred.
- At least 1 year of previous tractor-trailer driving experience or completion of a State Certified and Licensed truck driving school and/or the Old Dominion truck driver training program.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English, and able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Adept at operating a hand-held mini-computer when required.
- Familiar with vehicle safety and control systems.

Old Dominion Freight Line is currently in search of a Line Haul Driver to join our OD Family Culture. Our Driver will efficiently operate various tractor-trailer combinations over long distances.
They typically work a 5-day week and are usually home most nights, which allows for a fantastic work-life balance for our drivers.
OD's Line Haul Drivers enjoy an average annual pay of $107,000. OD offers a Tuition Reimbursement Program for recent graduates from a trucking school.
Line haul Drivers play a crucial role in our OD Family as they ensure the accurate delivery of our customers' freight, helping us honor our commitments.
