The College of Veterinary Medicine invites applicants to apply for the position of Veterinary Assistant located at the Veterinary Research and Education Center within the Large Animal Clinical Sciences department. The day-to-day responsibilities of a veterinary assistant are varied and essential to the overall well-being of animals under their care.Responsibilities
- Provides assistance to veterinary nurses clinicians veterinarians and students.
- Performs animal husbandry functions such as general care feeding watering exercising animal handling restraint admittance discharge patients records daily observations assists transport live deceased animals cleans disinfects animal quarters treatment areas holding areas chutes loading unloading areas walls floors other areas responds hospital farm phone calls texts emails maintains open communication performs laundry duties assists unpacking unloading supplies placing items appropriate areas assists labs prepares exam areas equipment appointments prepares sanitation records learns safely operate equipment assigned areas forklift tractor skid steer loader sprayers slings sled standard cattle chutes 360 chutes assists research projects teaching labs direction researchers instructors.
