    Description
    As Principal Cost Accountant for Power Solutions in Rochester, NY you will support Operations in Rochester, China, and Korea.

    You will be responsible for cost accounting activities including manufacturing inventory valuation, cost of sales accuracy and variance analysis, standard cost setting and item maintenance along with current cost analysis.

    You will report to the Senior Controller of Global Operations.


    Responsibilities:
    Well-versed in costing and inventory valuation methods and systems.
    Participate and lead related month-end close activities and variance analysis
    Support sales accounting and costing of shipments
    Liaison with external auditors for audits on inventory, reserve, and valuation issues
    Support an ongoing inventory cycle count program and conduct and reconcile physical inventories as required. Work closely with material control to develop and monitor procedures for inventory control.
    Interface with group management on new product cost development and inventory controls

    Provide guidance on cost accounting issues as required and collaborate with international sites to drive standardization in accordance with standard corporate policies and procedures.

    Fully support the Internal Controls process; audit support, control monitoring, control execution of POs, cycle counts, periodic physical inventories, month-end reconciliation of accounts, revenue classifications, and other controls as required.

    Perform New Part costing and item set ups as required.

    Perform periodic standard cost re-setting process as required for purchased parts, labor and overhead costs, and BOM revisions in accordance with standard corporate policies and procedures.

    Execute Inventory analyses and reserve policy for the group, with focus placed on standardizing reserve procedures across international sites as it relates to excess and obsolescence, MRB and Aged-Inventory analyses, used equipment, demo and service inventories
    Variance analysis and expense tracking of all Manufacturing Operational costs, including the partnership with Operations to develop policies and procedures to promote higher review and control of costs; specific attention paid to bulk and consumables, scrap expense, physical inventory variances, manufacturing supplies, and non-capital equipment
    Support the business planning and forecasting process, review forecast vs actual results with department managers and explain variances
    Limited travel (less than 15%) possible between Power Solutions Operational sites.


    Required Skills:
    Accounting/Finance BS/BA degree
    5+ years of experience in product costing methods and MRP/ERP cost systems, internal planning, reporting and control.

    Experience in financial analysis and communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with management, international teams, and all reporting stakeholders.

    Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

    Microsoft Excel skills:
    able to do Vlookups, pivot tables and other formulas


    Preferred Skills:
    Knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion Financial Management, and SAP a plus.
    Self-starting, self-directed, team-oriented professional with ability to independently determine the direction of work required and priority of projects
    Ability to work cooperatively with others within and across functions and demonstrate a positive attitude

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Salary Pay Range:
    $93,100.00 to 172,900.00 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

    Bonus:

    This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
