    Responsible for providing guidance of in-depth underwriting and PTI-specific knowledge, understanding Company and Departmental guidelines while exercising discretion and independent judgment to make decisions. Has the authority to recommend or act on a course of action. Evaluate properties and policyholders in order to accept new risks, allow policy changes, and review renewal policies to maintain a profitable book of business.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work independently to analyze, compare, and evaluate risk for new and renewal business;
    • Ability to assess information from a variety of sources and solve complex problems;
    • Practice sound underwriting decisions and risk evaluations to reduce unnecessary exposure;
    • Assist and advise agents regarding a variety of underwriting questions pertaining to new business submissions, inspections, memos and notices, required documents, reinstatements, endorsements, underwriting decisions/guidelines/appetite, and the PTI business model;
    • Proactively resolve issues and complaints on behalf of PTI by utilizing underwriting process knowledge and strong skills in problem-solving and resourcefulness;
    • Recommend and consult on overall process improvements to management as necessary;
    • Ensure cycle times are reduced, production goals are met, and quality assurance scores are achieved;
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • A Bachelor's or Associate's degree is preferred; a minimum of a high school graduate or GED is required; three years minimum experience in Property & Casualty insurance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a 2-20 General Lines, 4-40 Customer Service Representative, or 20-44 Resident Personal Lines License. Professional certifications are beneficial (AAI, AIM, etc.).
    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion.
    • Ability to exhibit independent judgement and assess risk based on PTI's business model.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents.
    • Ability to communicate (written and verbally) effectively to policyholders and agents.
    • Critical thinking and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
    • Strives to provide exceptional, best-in-class customer service.
    • The individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
    • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
