    Job Title: Remote Bilingual Behavioral Telehealth Counselor

    Status: Full-Time/Non-exempt

    Reports To: Specialty Lines Supervisor

    Location: Remote

    Compensation: The starting pay for this position is $24.04/hr. Additionally, there is a $1 per hour bilingual shift differential for candidates who are able to fluently read, write and speak in Spanish while working in this position. Additional benefits include full medical, dental, vision insurance, matching 401k, EPA, and access to professional development funds.

    Schedule: 11:00 am - 7:30 pm (Pacific Time) Sunday - Wednesday (32 hours) or Sunday - Thursday (40 hours)

    Training dates: 6/27-7/13 8:30-5:00, 7/16-7/27 8:00-4:30, and 7/30-8/2 9:00-5:00 (Pacific Time)

    About the Organization: Lines for Life is a regional non-profit that is dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide and promoting mental wellness. We offer help and hope to individuals and communities. Our work addresses a spectrum of needs that include mental wellness, intervention, prevention, and advocacy. We educate, train, and advocate to prevent issues of substance use, mental health challenges, and thoughts of suicide from reaching crisis levels. We are available 24/7/365 to intervene with personalized help.

    Remote Bilingual Behavioral Telehealth Counselor Position Summary: This position may need to answer incoming calls, texts and chats on all other Lines for Life's crisis and referral helplines with care and compassion, and within the scope of each helpline. Provide brief tele-mental health services using a strength-based approach for callers experiencing mental emotional distress. Must be able to empathize and effectively provide emotional support to populations that are most at-risk including people of color, seniors, and individuals in rural and frontier counties.


    Remote Bilingual Behavioral Telehealth Counselor Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrate the culture of Lines for Life by modeling behavior that supports the organization's goals and philosophies.
    • Provide brief tele-mental health services using a strength-based approach for callers experiencing mental emotional distress.
    • When appropriate refer the individual caller to additional levels/types of therapy/care.
    • May have to answer crisis calls and chats/texts on over 30 different crisis lines including but not limited to: 988, YouthLine, Senior Loneliness Line, Alcohol and drug helpline, hospital mental health crisis lines and behavioral health scheduling calls, as well as county mental health crisis lines. After completing the required chat/text training.
    • Document inbound and outbound calls in an accurate and timely manner with relevant clinical information in an electronic health record system.
    • Communicate daily with team and supervisors in professional and collaborative manner.
    • Complete mandatory trainings and workshops to continue learning the latest policies and protocols and stay up to date on crisis intervention tools & techniques.
    • Perform other duties, such as administrative and organizational tasks as needed.

    Remote Bilingual Behavioral Telehealth Counselor Required Qualifications:

    • Bilingual in English and Spanish
    • Master's Degree or higher in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related mental health field or Certified QMHP registered through MHACBO.
    • Ability to set short term objectives and use a strength based, solution focused approach.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
    • Remote office space suitable for tele-mental health counseling.
    • Ability to work independently triaging calls to keep the lines available to those who are in escalated crisis.
    • Pass pre-employment clinical skills and technology proficiency assessment.
    • Able to handle high levels of stress.
    • Proficient in web-based computer environment and multi-line phone system.
    • Understanding of and ability to apply mental health assessment, treatment and service terminology.
    • Able to implement skill development strategies and to identify, implement and coordinate the services and supports identified in Individual Service and Support Plan (ISSP).
    • Strong attendance & punctuality - able to consistently show up on time, work the full scheduled shifts, and provide at least 2 weeks' notice for time off requests or as soon as possible in the event of an emergency.

    Remote Bilingual Behavioral Telehealth Counselor Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in a call center environment
    • Experience acting as a representative of both the general and specific populations which have been disproportionally hit by COVID-19. These include communities of color and at-risk adults over 50.

    Remote Bilingual Behavioral Telehealth Counselor Remote Work Schedule:

    • Lines for Life requires extensive Crisis Lines Onboarding Training, which can be completed remotely. New hires must attend at least four weeks of crisis lines onboarding training.
    • Our crisis lines are operated 24/7. This position requires working some holidays and working weekends.

    Remote Bilingual Behavioral Telehealth Counselor Remote Physical Requirements:

    • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment and requires the ability to sit or stand and work on a computer for long periods of time.
    • This position requires high energy, patience, and controlling one's emotions, as well as the ability to think analytically.

    Remote Bilingual Behavioral Telehealth Counselor Remote Work:

    • This position can be worked 100% remotely. Telecommuting requires passing a clinical evaluation, having a HIPAA compliant workspace at home, and meeting technology requirements. Supervisors provide support to telecommuters by listening in on acute calls and using an internal messaging system (Microsoft Teams) to communicate.

    Remote Bilingual Behavioral Telehealth Counselor Quality Assurance:

    • We want to let you know that all calls are recorded – inbound and outbound. We review them regularly to ensure safety and quality assurance and for training and supervisory purposes. What this means is that you will have calls randomly picked for review and you will receive clinical feedback on how you are doing. This happens every few weeks and is one way that we ensure professional growth of our team. Another aspect of this technology is that while you are taking calls, supervisors can listen in to provide support if a call is particularly challenging or high risk. This supports our Crisis Intervention Specialists, so they are not alone and ensures safety for our callers.
