    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    The Project Engineer is responsible for providing engineering, project management, and construction management services relating to the District's generation resources. This is a new position to Cowlitz PUD that will be providing project management support, including quotes and bids for major construction, maintenance, and repair projects, and permitting, in accordance with District policies for our Power Resources Department.

    Experience, Working Conditions and Other Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor level degree in Engineering (BSEE preferred) and 5 to 7 years construction/project management experience in a utility or generation facility setting.
    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in Engineering
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
    • Construction Management Professional (PMP) certification
    Work Environment:
    The work environment conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
    • Standard work hours are Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Remote work is not available for this position.
    • It should be expected that the majority of work will be conducted in the field at our Swift Hydro Power plant and other District owned generating facilities.
    • This position may require project support outside of normal working hours.

    Insurance Benefits:

    Retirement:
    Cowlitz PUD employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs, PERS 2 or PERS 3.

    Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). This is a supplemental retirement savings program that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.

    Cowlitz PUD also has a 401k retirement plan and employees can select either traditional or Roth through Fidelity and there is an employer match benefit as well. The District matches up to 4% of the gross wages earned by staff employees. The match for union employees s dictated by the match that is negotiated through the collective bargaining agreement, which is currently 3.5% of gross wages earned by union employees.

    Paid Time Off:
    Employees begin accruing vacation starting the first full month of employment. Since we value our employees loyalty, the amount of paid time off you can accrue increases the longer you work with us.

    Full-time employees are entitled to ten paid holidays:
