    The University of Cincinnati, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism is seeking is seeking a faculty member to contribute to the research mission as the Associate Director of Research. The Associate Director will work closely with the Division Chief to plan, support, and grow the research enterprise in the division. They will play a key role in mentoring faculty and help build a diverse research program that performs clinical and basic research across the spectrum of endocrine disease. They will also help grow the division's externally funded research activities.

    Essential Functions
  • Develop and lead a high performing multi-disciplinary and inter-professional team of experts focused on scientific discovery, delivering clinical, translational, and molecular breakthroughs in the pathogenesis and treatment options for a wide range of endocrine and metabolic diseases.
  • Develop a world-class integrative endocrinology research program seen as a local, national, and international leader in the field.
  • Dissemination and implementation research to determine optimal approaches to ensure research evidence is translated into community settings to improve patient outcomes, particularly in under-resourced communities.
  • Secure funding, grant writing, develop and implement research protocols, manage study staff, analyze data, and prepare manuscripts/presentations.
  • Clinical activities (30% - could vary based on research/education/administration volume)

  • See patients in the outpatient clinics, fellows' clinics, and inpatient setting, at least 50% Diabetes focus required.
  • Participate in Medical Grand Rounds, seminars, and conferences at both UCMC and CCHMC locations.
  • Research/Administration/Education (70% - could vary based on clinical volume)

    • Remain current in research related to the Endocrinology population.
    • Collaborate with peers in obtaining extramural clinical research funding.
    • Adhere to the policies of the Human Research Committee.
    Minimum Requirements
    • Applicants must have a M.D., MD/PhD degree or equivalent.
    • Board Eligible or Board-Certified Endocrinologist.
    • Candidate must be eligible for medical licensure in Ohio.
    Additional Qualifications
    • Strong quantitative, qualitative, and analytic skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Successful track record of funding, grant writing, and manuscript publication.
    • Evidence of national and international reputation.
    • Demonstrated ability to work well within interdisciplinary teams and collaborations.
    • Experience working with under-resourced communities is strongly ideal.
    • A commitment to transforming health care delivery and policy through science.
    • Experience with quality improvement methodology.
