    Project/Unit Description The Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) seeks qualified candidates for an AI/ML engineer position
    The role of this position is to conduct research and to develop software in the field of agent-based decision-making to support rapid understanding in complex spectrum environments utilizing Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and real-world data
    The successful candidate will conduct sponsored research projects in close collaboration with other scientists and engineers

    Job Purpose The Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) Engineer develops AI/ML algorithms, cloud computing, and/or heterogeneous distributed computing infrastructures to support the deployment of AI/ML applications
    The AI/ML Engineer also researches the mathematical foundations and frameworks for nonlinear systems characterized by time-varying and emerging dynamics of evolving or adaptive systems
    The AI/ML Engineer develops technical solutions at the leading edge of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Genetic Programming, Computer Vision, and advanced data processing, filtering, and fusion techniques in high-performance computing and distributed heterogeneous computing environments
    The AI/ML Engineer writes parallel processing programs to deploy ML models developed by data scientists into more complex systems
    The AI/ML Engineer has familiarity with state-of-the-art, open-source software frameworks and high-performance computing accelerators for machine learning
    When conducting research, the AI/ML Engineer leverages the most recent advances in statistical analysis of large data sets to advance state-of-the-art automated sensor and data processing for a broad range of intelligent and sensor-enabled systems
    Key Responsibilities


    • Design complex system architectures (e.g., high-performance computing clusters, networks, chipsets, GPUs) based on available hardware (e.g., embedded systems, cloud, on-premise, etc.)
    • Lead a team of engineers responsible for system deployment
    • Develop novel algorithms and methodologies
    • Engage with sponsors to understand and meet system requirements
    • Serve as the primary author on technical reports and proposals Additional Responsibilities This is a research position that includes applied AI, ML and/or RL to include support framework integration, designing and building web frontends for data visualization, working with and writing code for M&S environments and/or video game engine environments, and design of associated systems and processes
    The position will provide M&S support, general software development support, AI, ML, and/or RL support to numerous local efforts supporting primarily government contracts
    Required Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate should possess a strong subset of the following:


    • Use of commodity AI (i.e
    state machines, behavior trees, local search, etc), ML and/or RL support frameworks in product development


    • M&S environments and/or video game engines; software development in C++, C#, Python, and/or Java
    • Linux familiarity
    • Container environments like Docker/Singularity/Podman
    • Agile/Scrum software development practices and tools (e.g
    Jira, Bitbucket/Git)
    The successful candidate should possess


    • Problem investigation, reproduction, and resolution skills
    • The ability to acquire new skills efficiently and independently
    • Strong performance in a collaborative environment

    • Master's degree with hands-on AI/ML experience
