    About the Position:

    NuovoRE, a private Denver-based real estate investment firm, seeks a Principal Accountant of Financial Reporting and Operations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated a strong set of technical accounting and organizational skills necessary to oversee the preparation and review of investment company financials. This candidate will play a vital role on the Finance team and will have the opportunity to assist the Controller in building out core infrastructure optimization tools and processes for an investment company owning both operational and development real estate assets.

    Responsibilities:

    Work with the Controller to develop the tools, processes, and controls necessary for the preparation of consolidated quarterly financials, to track to monthly financials for audit preparedness, annually.

    Oversee and train 3rd party staff accounting teams day-to-day activities including but not limited to bank reconciliations, invoice processing, AP Automation platform, monthly financial preparation, and system data imports.

    Track and analyze efficiency of 3rd party staff accounting team KPIs for use in coordination with Controller on process efficiency planning and team road mapping.

    Work with accounting ERP system to maintain comprehensive and accurate entity consolidated financial statements and investment/investor ledger.

    Maintain annual and quarterly re-forecasted budgets.

    Manage Corporate and operating company financials in ERP.

    Track and maintain all investor activity and capital statements.

    Maintain CIP and Fixed Asset accounting for development and operating properties.

    Regularly collaborate with Controller on standard process improvements and optimizations.

    Collaborate with the Controller to build out tools to ensure extensive monthly construction draw reviews.

    Special projects will include oversight of 3rd party consultants on things like Cost Segregation studies, Quality Improvement Property identification exercises, and maintaining OZ Compliance testing, etc.

    Provide support to the tax department for compliance and delivery of financials for tax return preparation.

    Treasury administration, risk mitigation, and relationship management

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

    5+ years of investment company accounting experience

    CPA license strongly preferred

    In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards Proficiency with accounting software like NetSuite, Yardi, MRI, etc.

    Experience managing outsourced/remote accounting teams

    Ability to oversee complex consolidations and data analysis

    Strong organizational and time management skills

    Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

    High attention to detail and accuracy

    Self-motivated with ability to manage competing priorities

    Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

    Knowledge of opportunity zones a plus
