    Mission/Purpose of the Job
    The Materials Manager leads the logistics function within the STC.

    Responsible for optimisation of service inventory levels for parts and finished products to maximize customer service levels, at the lowest total supply chain costs.

    To ensure the correct level of staff to meet the operational requirements at the site, regular performance management and development of the logistics team.

    Main Responsibilities
    Direct line management for all the materials and warehouse personnel on-site in the STC.

    Drive a pro-active safety culture across the materials and warehouse team, ensuring absolute focus on safety behaviours through a lead-safe/act-safe culture.

    Optimisation of service inventory levels for parts and finished goods so as to maximize customer service levels, at the lowest total supply chain costs.

    Setting and reviewing inventory policies and targets to enable the achievement of business objectives in customer service levels and NWC (Net Working Capital).

    Implement and demonstrate best in class inventory management practices through the use of, but not limited to: 6S, FIFO, Shelf-life control, obsolescence provisioning, physical inventory audits, WIP control and goods-In inspection.

    Propose and plan capital investments with the support of the Engineering/Procurement dept. to continuously improve the logistics function, including the generation of business cases as appropriate to justify.

    Develop and implement policies and objectives for the logistics group that support the achievement of group objectives, taking input from Service management, Product management, and Customer facing teams.

    Ensure timely completion of all materials related transactions into the ERP system, including goods receiving spares and pumps (including returns for repair) into stock, issuing parts to Service Orders, ordering non-inventory or local purchase parts.

    Where needed expediting parts from the supply sources to minimise and WIP held for parts.
    Establish and report local logistics KPI's that support the overall STC mission.

    Scope of the job:
    The job holder has day-to-day responsibilities of operational actions required to optimise supply chain activities

    Primary internal interfaces will be with Service Supply Chain team, regional Service Business teams, Engineering, Finance, Customer facing and IM groups.

    Inventory and logistics policies and processes deployed in VT Service must be consistent with, and benefit from, the principles and mechanisms supported globally by the Service Logistics group
    Based in STC, having 2-3 direct reports
    Occasional business travel to other destinations could be required
    Skills / Knowledge / Experience
    Degree in Engineering, Science or Business followed by 3-5 years of experience in Operations/Logistics environment
    Detailed knowledge of supply chain management
    Proven ability to deliver project objectives on time and to budget
    Excellent communication skills, including well-developed interpersonal skills relating to internal management members and global operations personnel
    Familiarity with the principles of world-class supply chain management, its implementation and support
    Evidence of any analytical approach using qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques
    Demonstrable leadership experience in strategic involvement where individual judgement would have a direct bearing on company performance
    Able to work independently with minimal supervision
    Knowledge of vacuum applications, industry and equipment is an advantage
    Computer literate, specifically MS Office skills (Excel) and knowledge of transaction and planning systems (SAP).
    Fluent knowledge of English – written and spoken
