This position falls under the City of Denver Prevailing Wage Law.
The base rate is $42.98/hour, however other rates may apply depending on job assignment within the scope of the job description.
General Summary:
Install, maintain and repair sanitation units, water and gas supply lines, heating systems, and associated fixtures and appliances in the Colorado Convention Center.
This position will also be required to design or review designs and inspect plumbing systems, perform diagnostics, and ensure they comply with regulatory codes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Interpret blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materialsInstall pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquidsInstall supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installationAssemble fittings and valves for installationModify length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as neededUse saws and pipe cutters as necessaryInstall heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heatersCollaborate with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbingTest plumbing systems for leaks and other problemsAnalyze problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repairChoose plumbing materials based on budget, location, and intended uses of buildingFollow health and safety standards and complies with building codesWrite report documenting the problem and summary of actions takenPerform inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn partsPrepare bids and schedules and oversees other workers, such as apprentices and helpersQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED certificate1-3 years' experience as a journeyman plumberSkills and Abilities:Skilled in the use of hand and power tools used in the plumbing tradeKnowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practicesAbility to read and follow blueprints and rough drawingsFamiliarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copperAbility to complete projects unsupervised and unassistedExcellent problem solving and analytical skillsAttention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneouslyProficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurementsOperate appropriate lifts and maintain certifications requiredAbility to read blueprintsUnderstanding and using sustainable products requiredDemonstrate excellent communication (verbal and written) and inter-personal skills among all levels of staff and clientele requiredAbility to speak, understand, and read standard English requiredWork effectively with diverse groups of people among all levels within an organization; skill to work effectively as part of a team requiredPerform role and job tasks effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities requiredExcellent problem solving and organizational skills requiredProvide customer service in a professional considerate manner requiredExcellent record of dependability and reliability required
