    Under limited supervision, this position provides specialized professional therapeutic programming to offenders in an alcohol and other drug treatment program.

    Incumbent is capable of performing all aspects of program content, including security, assessment/evaluation, psycho-educational programming, monitoring and reporting, teaching, training and professional standards.


    This position will work within a Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF - Willow River/Moose Lake) with direct contact with incarcerated individuals.

    LICENSURE


    Current licensure or eligibility for licensure* by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or equivalently qualified to perform alcohol and drug counseling under Minnesota Statute 148F.11.

    EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION


    • One year of experience providing behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy, to clients with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders.
    OR


    • Master's degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling/Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family, Counseling, or a related Behavioral Health/Science program**.
    • If your degree is in a related Behavioral Health/Science program not listed above, you may be asked to provide an unofficial college transcript.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


    • Knowledge of substance use treatment methods and practices.
    • Knowledge of professional, legal, and ethical standards; best practices; and community standards of care. Skills in verbal and written communication, including proficient documentation skills. Interpersonal/human relations skills. Basic personal computer skills.
    • Ability to provide substance use treatment; formulate and implement an individualized treatment plan; and develop a continuing care plan.
    • Ability to teach a psycho-educational course; effectively function within a multi-disciplinary team; exercise sound judgment; and demonstrate appropriate professional boundaries.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling/Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family, Counseling, or a related Behavioral Health/Science program.
    • Current licensure in Minnesota as a LADC at time of hire.
    • Current Minnesota licensure as a LP, LPC, LPCC, LICSW, or LMFT. Experience working in a correctional/secured environment.
    • Experience treating clients with co-occurring disorders.
    • One year of experience providing clinical behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy, to clients with substance use disorders.

    Physical Requirements
    The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position.

    Additional Requirements


    The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy.

    Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.


    Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy.
