Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with an active IL license and recent travel experience for a night shift position with a focus on stroke care.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 25-bed Medical/Surgical unit with a mix of private and semi-private rooms
• Night shift position requiring three 12-hour shifts per week
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 5-6:1 on nights
• Care for a diverse adult patient population, including stroke, comfort care, hospice, post-op, heparin drips, wound care, altered mental status, CIWA, AKI, dialysis, COPD exacerbations, and feeding tube management
• Epic EMR used; familiarity is required
• Work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Onboarding includes one 8-hour day for modules and required tasks, followed by up to two 12-hour orientation shifts on the floor
• RNs are expected to provide care for both general Med/Surg and complex stroke patients
• Must be able to adapt quickly and provide total patient care when assigned
• Team is accustomed to supporting both new and experienced travelers

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Stroke certification required (NIHSS)
• Experience with Epic EMR required
