Description
The main research goal of the Genitourinary Medical Oncology department is to identify important biological markers to help determine which patients are at the greatest risk of advanced GU disease and metastasis.
In alignment with this departmental goal, this postdoctoral project will focus on delineating cellular and molecular mechanisms dictating resistance to chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy in aggressive variant metastatic prostate cancers (a subset with poor prognosis) and link them to clinicopathological features of the disease.
Knowledge gained will be used to identify molecular biomarkers and rational therapeutic combinations for treating these aggressive prostate cancers.
To study cellular and molecular mechanisms dictating resistance to chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy in aggressive variant prostate cancers and link them to clinicopathological features of the disease.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Learn the basics of clinical and pathological therapy response and resistance in aggressive variant prostate cancers.
Become proficient in the intersection of tumor immune microenvironment, tumor metabolism, tumor genomics and epigenomics, disease progression, and treatment response in patients with aggressive variant prostate cancers.

Learn key professional/career skills to complement the research training to develop a comprehensive career path.

POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA ) . This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
