    Overview

    Evening Shifts 3 per week ; includes every-other-weekend and holiday requirements.

    LCH 7P Neonatal Progressive Care Nursery: NPCN is a step down unit from the NICU. NPCN cares for Level II and III babies including but not limited to trachs, ostomies, pre-ops, PCVCs and PIVs, High Flow Nasal Canula, babies on at least 50% enteral feedings, NAS, etc. The unit is licensed for 32 beds and have the capacity to go up to 36 babies when NICU is above capacity as well. NPCN receives babies from the newborn nursery and transfers from LCH NICU as well as outlying hospitals. NPCN see much of the same diagnoses as the NICU.

We have 4 pediatric hospitalist teams, a 20-bed PICU (including Cardiac ICU), an 85-bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation floor. Levine Children's Hospital is also Charlotte's only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, staffed by doctors trained in pediatric emergency medicine. LCH has successfully ranked as a Best Children's Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for 16 consecutive years.     Job Summary

    Assists with the clerical duties related to patient care and management of nursing under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Charge Nurse.

    Essential Functions

    • Receives and forwards incoming telephone calls, conveys messages, and responds to requests for information.
    • Ensures the appropriate disposition of laboratory and diagnostic reports.
    • Assembles charts of discharged patients according to format and files all materials in patient records.
    • Orders and monitors unit supplies.
    • Assists the registered nurse with transcription of physician's orders.
    • Assists with obtaining medical records.
    • Enters and ensures accuracy of data into computer.

    Physical Requirements

    Responsible to work in a safe manner. Work requires walking, standing, lifting, reaching, handling of charts, supplies, and equipment.

    Education, Experience and Certifications

    High School Diploma or GED required. Data entry experience and/or experience in health care preferred.
