    Summary Statement

    Primary function for the branch Discovery Center includes being a positive role

    model, working with children in group activities, maintaining a clean, fun and safe

    environment for children of all ages in the Discovery Center.

    Responsibilities

    1. Promote values of respect, honesty, caring and responsibility

    2. Maintain a professional image at all times

    3. Always implement and follow safety rules for children

    4. Greet and welcome children at the door

    5. Ensure that parents are properly signing in their children

    6. Be prepared to encourage and lead age appropriate activities for children

    7. Set the proper example at all times

    8. Keep the YMCA policies and philosophy in mind with all activities

    9. Assist with other YMCA programs as needed

    10. Communicate openly with parents and greet them when they enter and exit

    the Discover Center

    11. Keep area neat and clean

    12. Sanitize equipment on a scheduled basis

    13. Work as a team member with other employees

    14. Promote values of respect, honesty, caring and responsibility

    Accountabilities

    1. Report problems and concerns that you have to your supervisor

    2. Strive to learn new childrens names

    3. Strive to learn childrens interests and ask them questions

    4. Provide creative, safe, fun and enriching activities for the children to use at

    free will

    5. Arrive on time for your shift and be ready to have fun

    6. Implement and utilize calming strategies for kids

    7. Be flexible in work hours and report any shift changes to supervisor

    **Requirements:**

    Qualifications

    1. High school graduate or equivalent.

    2. Must be enthusiastic, creative and have a desire to work with children

    and their families

    3. Previous experience with diverse populations and children preferred.

    4. Acute planning and organizing skills preferred. 5. CPR/1st Aid" are preferred but not required.
