Job DescriptionThe Process EngineerThe individual in this role will work within the operations group to continuously improve health and safety performance, environmental compliance, pulp production, quality metrics, and operating cost.
These activities will be require working with people, processes and equipment associated with the Woodyard and Pulpmill, and will use a variety of tools including Lean Manufacturing and 6S Principles.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesCollect, analyze and use operational data to help drive process improvements. Identify and evaluate the feasibility of new technological developments and best practices.Recommend solutions for application of best practices in operations inclusive of recommending, justifying, and supporting Capital Budget projects.
Serve on committees, task forces and teams as assigned.
Assist with development and improvement of operational practices and SOP's using sound engineering principles.
Provide hands on oversight and management of projects during planned and unplanned outages.
Assume supervisory responsibilities within the Pulpmill as required during vacations and sickness.
Assume weekend call out responsibilities on a scheduled, rotational basis.
QualificationsB.S in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Science is preferred. Other technical disciplines will be considered with relevant experience.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
An ability to work with both salaried and hourly operations and maintenance staff.
An ability to learn and adapt to changing operational situations.
An ability to work in an operating environment that includes heat, humidity, noise and lab and process chemicals.
Confident, growth oriented professional ready to accept challenging responsibilities with a positive attitude.
