    Full time
    Description
    About Our Job
With competitive pay, great benefits, and endless opportunities, working for the City and County of Denver means seeing yourself working with purpose — for you, and those who benefit from your passion, skills and expertise. Who We AreThe Office of Municipal Public Defender (OMPD) is a comprehensive public defender office that is client-centered, independent, and innovative in representation of individuals charged with municipal ordinance violations and traffic cases in the Denver County Court System. In 2021, OMPD launched its own internal division to address the holistic needs of OMPD's clients: The Client Support Team (CST). OMPD has fully integrated the CST and wraparound support into the defense team: the CST works closely with attorneys in court, creates reentry plans with clients in jail, and connects clients to resources like food stamps, employment, shelter and housing, treatment, and more. OMPD's aim is to increase resource connections, improve court outcomes and attendance, and ultimately to reduce future criminal justice system involvement.
What We OfferThe City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The hourly pay range for this position is $23.33-$35.00. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:
    • 140 hours of PTO earned within first year + 11 paid holidays, 1 personal holiday and 1 volunteer day per year
    • Care Bank – 8 weeks of Paid Family Leave (after the probation period is passed)
    • Competitive medical, dental and vision plans effective within 1 month of start date
    • Free RTD Eco Pass
    • Discounts to City rec centers
    • Employee Assistance Program - Counseling, Legal, Financial Support, and more
    • 457B Retirement plan
LocationThis position reports on site at the Denver Office of the Municipal Public Defender located at 710 W. Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80203 and other onsite locations including the Denver jails, and the Denver courthouse. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8am-4pm. During the probation period, you will be working in the office Monday through Friday. Upon successful completion of training, you will transition to a hybrid work arrangement with the opportunity to work from home one day a week, and four days in office.
What You'll DoOMPD is seeking a Bilingual Outreach Case Coordinator I to provide client-centered case management and resource navigation to the individuals OMPD represents. The CST division serves as part of the defense team and are bound by the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct including rules regarding attorney-client privilege and client confidentiality. • Assesses client needs, current resource/service connections, strengths, and supports
    • Develops solutions with clients to resolve immediate or recurring problems and barriers to receiving and/or participating in services or programs, and monitors eligibility for services by ensuring clients are following through with their agreed-upon responsibilities
    • Works in close partnership with attorneys, administrative staff, and other Client Support Team staff as part of a holistic defense team
    • Supports the defense team by being present regularly at court and at OMPD's office for on-demand, client support
    • Visits clients in Denver jails and partners with clients to create reentry and support plans.
    • Monitors and tracks client's participation, follows up on any problems or issues that arise, and coordinates immediate support services such as transportation assistance, childcare, clothing and hygiene needs, food vouchers, animal care services, and other services
