    Production Manager Job Description

    About the Role

    Darigold is seeking a Production Manager to join its Rainier team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of success in managing production operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Direct and oversee the activities of the Rainier Plant's production departments, including Receiving, Processing, and Packaging
    • Collaborate with Safety, Quality, Warehouse, and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations
    • Provide leadership and guidance to Production Department Supervisors, define individual performance goals, and ensure they are met or exceeded
    • Maintain effective communications and status reports with the entire management team
    • Ensure superior levels of safety, reliability, sanitation, quality, and regulatory conformance
    • Sponsor continuous improvement initiatives and provide momentum for successful completion
    • Prepare and conduct team meetings to ensure proper communications and updates
    • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, and EHS staff to achieve facility goals and objectives
    • Maximize yields, minimize off-specification product, and maximize throughput
    • Ensure safe work performance standards
    • Demonstrate diplomacy and prompt intervention tactics in handling personnel issues
    • Serve as Subject Matter Expert in production process and equipment
    • Guide operations teams during downtime and support training and development of plant production personnel
    • Assess, identify, and report on plant operations and fiscal impact of upsets, downtime, and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Predictively address production issues for swift resolution and minimal system upset
    • Identify potential, sponsor, mentor, and develop supervisor subordinates
    • Ensure effective employee communication, training, and compliance on quality programs, policies, and standards
    • Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports
    • Partner with continuous improvement leaders to implement Lean principles and practices

    Requirements

    • Three to five years of experience in dairy, food processing, or similar facility
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
    • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, OSHA, and Department of Labor operational standards

    Nice to Have

    • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes analytically and systematically
    • Fluency in Continuous Improvement Processes, such as Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Process applications, and Standardized Procedural Development
    • Flexibility in moving from operational to financial disciplines
    • Computer literacy in PC-based applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to achieve results through management and direction of others
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Self-motivation and minimal oversight or supervision required
