    NOSC OPERATIONS ENGINEER

    CMIT is seeking a motivated, career and team-oriented cybersecurity data engineer in support of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Continuous Diagnostic & Mitigation (CDM) Data Services Program. The CDM Data Services Program is a critical component of CISA's national effort to ensure the defense and resilience of cyberspace.

    CDM Data Services' mission is to provide a standardized platform to collect, transform, and integrate cybersecurity data from relevant authoritative data sources into a coherent data, delivering actionable information into Agency and Federal Dashboards to identify risk areas in support of mitigation as well as to facilitate coordinated agency and national response to cyber-threats.


    Responsibilities

    The highly skilled and motivated NOSC Operations Engineer supports the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). As an integral member of the team, the position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) infrastructure and systems, with a focus on supporting applications such as Elasticsearch, Elastic Kibana dashboards. Additionally, the role is responsible for escalation to engineering, opening tickets, and responding to customer questions on data.

    • Monitor and maintain the NOSC infrastructure, cloud systems, and cloud network devices, including Elasticsearch and Elastic Kibana dashboards, to ensure optimal performance and availability.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to network connectivity, software, and security, specifically related to Elasticsearch and Elastic Kibana.
    • Conduct regular system audits, performance tuning, and capacity planning for Elasticsearch and Elastic Kibana to proactively identify and address potential issues.
    • Implement and maintain security measures to protect the NOSC infrastructure, including Elasticsearch and Elastic Kibana, from unauthorized access, viruses, and other security threats.
    • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices, servers, and software applications, with a focus on Elasticsearch and Elastic Kibana.
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, system configurations, and network diagrams for Elasticsearch and Elastic Kibana.
    • Escalate technical issues to engineering teams when necessary and collaborate with them to resolve complex problems.
    • Open and manage tickets for incidents, problems, and change requests, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.
    • Respond to customer questions and inquiries regarding data in Elasticsearch and Elastic Kibana, providing accurate and helpful information.
    • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents and emergencies related to Elasticsearch and Elastic Kibana in a timely manner.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to NOSC operations, Elasticsearch, Elastic Kibana, and cybersecurity.

    Education/Certifications

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) required
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Security+CE) are a plus.

    Qualifications Required

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in network operations, systems administration, or a similar role.
    • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
    • Experience with Elastic Search and Elastic Kibana, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
    • Familiarity with Security, Network and Application monitoring tools, such as AppDynamics, DynaTrace, Azure Monitoring, Azure Sentinel.
    • Proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows server administration.
    • Experience with Azure and AWS, including infrastructure management and deployment.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work remotely within the United States on a Eastern Time Zone telework schedule.

    Clearance Requirements

    • Must be a US citizen and pass a background investigation.
    • Able to obtain and maintain a DHS Suitability/Entry on Duty (EOD).
