    General Description:

    The Senior Programs Manager leads a team that works to implement programming that serves San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB) special populations, with a primary focus on Senior Programs. Reporting to the Director of Food Distribution Programs, this position plays a key role in building relationships with existing Food Bank Program Partners, identifying new strategic partnership opportunities, as well as tracking and reporting on programing deliverables. This position is highly visible internally and externally and the ideal candidate will bring a variety of attributes, knowledge, and skills, including a strong program management and program operations background, coupled with strong people leadership skills. This position requires an ability to see the big picture and good attention to detail. A high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to build strong relationships will allow them to easily engage with varied community partners and stakeholders, as well as internal departments of the Food Bank. This position manages a team of five full time staff members.

    Essential Functions:
    • Manage SAFB Senior Grocery Programs, including the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and Healthy Options Program for the Elderly (HOPE) along with the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) and the Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) including overseeing day-to-day activities such as inventory tracking and direct distributions.
    • Manage the development and implementation of SAFB's Home Delivery program.
    • Supervise 5 full time staff members.
    • Cultivate relationships with existing Program Partners providing them with ongoing outreach and communication.
    • Identify and develop new partnership relationships to continue to meet program goals and objectives.
    • Ensure the routine monitoring of Program Partners reviewing for compliance with national and federal guidelines as well as providing technical and strategic support.
    • Support the expansion of SAFB's programming related to serving seniors.
    • Assist with the management and implementation of program grants/contracts, including tracking deliverables.
    • Collaborate across departments to achieve program goals, including the Operations and Agency Services teams.
    • Serve as a liaison with the Texas Department of Agriculture related to senior programs, including during site reviews.
    • Bachelor's degree in public policy, social work, business or related field preferred; four years of work experience may be substituted, in lieu of degree.
    • A seasoned manager with 2-4+ years of experience supervising regular full-time paid staff, including experience providing effective training, supervision and delegation to others.
    • Experience effectively developing and cultivating partnerships; from identifying a good fit to evaluating ways to improve an existing relationship.
    • The ability to organize and manage multiple projects under aggressive timelines. Change doesn't derail your day, you roll with it.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; good judgment and discretion; strong ethical character capable of handling confidential information.
    • High emotional intelligence and ability to work within both 'the forest' - vision/direction - and 'the trees' attention to detail - of any project.
    • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with both colleagues and volunteers in a collaborative environment.
    • Flexible when things change suddenly and can stay focused on reaching your goals.
    • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite of products including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; advanced Excel skills.
    • Valid Government Issued Driver's License and proof of insurance.
