    Position Purpose:

    Reporting to the Director Supply Chain, the Manager Supply Chain is a people manager with the additional responsibility of operational responsibility for the entire system. The manager champions the supply chain effort to standardize processes throughout the system. Responsible for leading and implementing assigned projects. Must be able to conduct interviews, select qualified candidates and then train, orient, counsel, discipline, and evaluate subordinate staff. Establishes procedures and sets standards for the handling of all goods coming into the system. Inspects work areas regularly to ensure an operationally safe and clean work environment. Conducts regularly scheduled quality control inspections to ensure inventories are correct. Reviews existing and develops and administers new policies and procedures for Materials Services dept. Prepares operational reports monthly and maintains Materials Services records and documentation. Prepares and submits for approval, capital and operating budgets for areas of responsibility. Serves on the value analysis committee and acts as liaison regularly with all department users. Attends seminars and workshops to maintain skills within the Materials Management dept. and learn about new trends in the field, as well as a leader and role model in the essentials of excellent customer service.

    Key Job Activities:

    • Develops and implements assigned projects on time.
    • Responsible for managing the annual physical inventory process at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital and Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital. Develops summary reports for finance and researches any discrepancies.
    • Defines best supply chain operational practices and implements standardization across entire system.
    • Prepares staff schedules and work assignments and ensures the department is adequately staffed to provide 24-hour service.
    • Demonstrates proper procedures and techniques for handling and storage of product and operation along with maintenance of departmental equipment. Ensures all personnel are aware of and follow proper aseptic techniques, as necessary.
    • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive training & development program including personnel orientation, ongoing in-service and advanced training.
    • Inspects work areas regularly to ensure an operationally safe and clean work environment.
    • Monitors the work environment and practices for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards. Identifies deficiencies and ensures appropriate corrective action is taken.
    • Develop and implement measures of performance including staff competencies, inventory order completion, and accurate cart fill rates.
    • Streamline procedures for more efficient operations. Maintain permanent records of all quality assurance aspects of storage and other functions of the area assigned. Prepares operational reports on inventories. Maintain records and documentations.
    • Provide statistical reports on products of productivity for areas assigned on a routine basis. Analyze usage figures and submit regular and special reports concerning distribution activities and recommend necessary changes. Determine inventory levels of supplies utilizing proper inventory control methodologies.
    • Responsible for identification of problem/issues and plans for resolution. Initiates quality improvement activities within Materials Management dept.
    • Maintains standards and submits reports. Integrates recommended practices from professional associations.
    • Responsible for internal inventory control of storerooms within the system. Coordinates with repair personnel regarding regular maintenance of equipment.
    • Prepares for the Director's approval the annual capital and operating budgets for storeroom. Monitors approve the budget against actual expenditures to ensure variances are within acceptable limits.
    • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

    Education and Work Experience:

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • A Bachelors and or Masters degree in a relatable field is preferred.
    • 6+ years of progressively responsible management experience in warehousing, distribution, or inventory control is required.
    • Experience working in healthcare environments preferred.
    • Experience with employees covered under bargaining unit contracts preferred.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Experience Preferred in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems.
    • Advanced computer skills inclusive of Microsoft Suite with a focus in Excel required.
    • Experience with computerized purchasing and inventory systems.
    • Leadership skills are required to direct the work of subordinates, conduct performance evaluations, train and motivate support staff.
    • Communicate effectively in situations requiring the discussion of complex information.
    • Ability to analyze and resolve conflicts.
    • Ability to work independently and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Requires the analytical abilities necessary to independently resolve problems of a moderate to complex scope with solutions, which may not be clearly defined with existing procedures.
    • Be able to develop, integrate and interpret data and departmental reports (financial budget, inventory, personnel, etc.)
    • Ability to implement projects with minimum supervision and ability to drive results.

    Certifications/Licenses:

    • Six Sigma training or experience a plus
